Grace and Frankie - Netflix. On S5 Ep 13. I believe I picked up from S3 Ep 11. Glad I decided to start it up again since Season 7 was just released. Fun show and a pretty fast background viewing binge,

First season of Family on Tubi. One of my favorites in the day, but I realized I hadn't seen the first season before when a different actress was playing older sister Nancy. Meredith Baxter didn't arrive until season 2. Also, in season 1, they all (especially the father) seem angrier at one another than in later years.

Awesome that you found it. Hopefully they have all 5 seasons.

Started rewatching The Walking Dead. I had watched Seaon One when it originally came out, and I enjoyed it for what it was, but felt that the hype got a little bit too high, with tons of people who had criticized zombie films in the past quick to jump on the bandwagon (maybe that's just me, but I knew a ton of people that would condescend if I tried to get them to watch something like Fulci's Zombi, the original Night of the Living Dead, or even probably my two favorite Romero's, Dawn and Day. But, the cast was great. Always love to see Michael Rooker, and loved the interaction between Lincoln, Bernthal, and the great Norman Reedus. That said, I think I was just crazy busy with work and university at the time the Second Season came around and I was just constantly missing episodes, and I never caught up. What a mistake that was, cause I thought the Second Season was even better...like four or five times better. I recently got to the scene where...
Spoiler:
Bernthal's character goes ape and starts massacring all those zombies in the barn, which was a great, great scene, especially when the other characters joined in. And the latest episode I'm watching is the one where three of the main characters are in the bar and kill two guys, whose buddies show up outside and act like it's the Alamo. I'm just really enjoying this, and will probably actually finish the season tonight, and watch a bunch of the Third Season tomorrow...It's another time where I've owned the Blu-Rays for years (cause I got them for some crazy deal from Amazon), but it's fun watching them now, seeing as funds are limited, so It's just nice to watch something that's kind of fresh, as opposed to watching the same movies I've owned for years...

Great show...And I feel like Bernthal and Reedus are the standouts...Bernthal I was iffy about at first, but between this and The Punisher, not to mention some movies he's done like I think he had a really nice role in The Wolf of Wall Street, he's a great, generational actor...

Fringe Season One.

This is my second viewing of the series. I watched with my Dad when it was airing. So many episodes I forgot about. Great show.

Major Dad - Netflix. The kids were well-cast in this show. I believe I am about half-way through Season 2 and with only 4 seasons total it should be a fairly quick binge. So this is odd, for some reason I kept thinking that Gerald McRaney passed away, but I go to IMDB and see he has been on N.C.I.S. Los Angeles which I do watch and I remember him now. So weird that I thought he had passed.

Wow. Finished Season Two and loved it...Jon Bernthal's whole character arc was surprisingly compelling, and I was shocked by where it went. For example...
Spoiler:
I so did not expect him to die at that point of the series. I figured he'd leave the group and they'd drag that certain storyline on for quite some time, and I'm impressed that they had the balls to end it at that moment. I thought that took guts.

I'm finding the whole prison aspect interesting in Season Three, and I'm enjoying it thus far. I also find the Governor thing interesting, and I want to see where it goes, although I really don't like the Michonne character. Like, she acts stealthy and all that, but if anything she sticks out like a sore thumb. Her and her samurai sword. That just didn't impress me too much, although we'll see where her character goes. I heard she's kind of a fan-favourite, and I'm only on Episode 5 of Season Three, so there's still lots of episodes left in the season. I'll also add that I'm a fan of Lew Temple, who I think is an underrated actor, so seeing him as one of the prisoners is neat...And also, finally...
Spoiler:
...the return of Michael Rooker. F**k yeah. Again, one of my favorite actors, and I actually didn't expect him to return to the series aside from the odd flashback, so this is pretty cool...

Hell, I might finish binging Season Three overnight, probably have Season Four done by the weekend (although, I don't own any of the subsequent seasons, so there might be a problem there, as I doubt I can afford them at the moment...oh well, it sucked when I lost Netflix, cause I still haven't actually seen all of The Punisher Season Two, or even the last couple episodes of Daredevil Season Three, for that matter...So I'll catch them down the road...)

Well, unfortunately I felt that while the first half of Season Three was pretty solid (though not on par with Season Two), I thought it got progressively worse as the episodes wore on. Didn't like the path Rick's character took, and even the whole Governor storyline, which I found interesting at first, I thought became cliche and just kind of dumb at times. The Mishonne character did end up growing on me, although I still find her just a bit too "comic-booky" (even though, yes, I know the show's based on a comic book and the whole series is obviously fantastical, but still), and it was nice seeing that actor who I think played Cutty in The Wire, I always liked his acting chops. Don't really care for the character of Andrea (you're probably not supposed to care for her too much, but they devoted a helluva lot of time to her in the season). Still impressed by Reedus, even though I wish he had more to do. And Rooker is gold, as always, and his arc is pretty decent. Still interested to see Season Four, but not sure if I'll start it tonight...

Would also just add that I'm really not liking the storyline with Carl the kid...Feels a bit forced, and like a lot of child actors, I don't think the acting is necessarily the strongest...

Re: Last Show You Binged?

The Walking Dead: Season Four - A little hit-or-miss, but with some key highlights. Loved how they...
Spoiler:
mad the Governor a sort of anti-hero for like two entire episodes, and then soon after he resorts back to his douchey ways...Thought those were very well-written

Didn't really like the relationship between Rick and his son. I feel that kid needs to get knocked upside his head, and the more "angry" he acts, the worse the acting gets. But I mostly blame my issues with his character on the writing. Had the writing been a bit better, particularly his dialogue, I probably wouldn't have such an issue.

I've always liked the Carol character, so it was nice to see her given more time, and I especially was blown away by...
Spoiler:
that f**ked up kid she had to deal with. The one that killed her sister and was obsessed with zombies. Now that is a GOOD child actor. I mean, she totally sold me on the whole psychotic aspect. And I loved how Carol dealt with her by popping one in the back of her crazy-ass head.

Didn't care too much for most of Daryl's arc, but oh well...I'm sure he'll have much more to do later on. Anyway, kind of sucks now cause that's all of the seasons I own on Blu-Ray, so it might be a while til I get to see any additional episodes. Oh well...down the road, I guess...

like childish challenges turns out to be a deadly survival tournament; lose any of the daily games and the players are killed off until one final player is left.Who will be the last player standing

Squid Game (Korea) - Netflix

An absolutely batshit crazy, gore splattered mashup of Battle Royale, The Hunger Games, Alice in Borderland, Saw and the countless ripoffs of those films. If you don't like seeing a lot of bloody corpses and people getting their brains blown out, this might not be the series for you. But gorehounds rejoice!

This alternates between being both a tense rollercoaster ride of suspenseful thrills as well as a thought provoking melodrama that illustrates just how quickly people are willing to abandon their morals in order to survive and whether gaining wealth is worth the cost of losing one's humanity. While the lead character starts out as an annoying goofball (played way over the top initially) who makes one bad decision after another, his transformation as the series progresses is quite impressive.

The series is almost derailed by a cliche-laden subplot involving some filthy rich VIPs who arrive on the scene to observe and comment on the "games" and are portrayed by english-speaking actors who deliver their godawful dialogue with all the conviction of preschoolers trying to do Shakespeare. Luckily they only besmirch one episode.

I also think I recognized the actors who played the dad in Train to Busan and the the NIS agent in I Saw the Devil.
