Invincible- first 5 episodes. Holy shit. Where the hell did this come from? This is like Watchmen and Venture Bros had a horrible baby and I love it.

Rome: Season One - Finally, finally got around to watching this, after having owned the complete series on Blu-Ray for several years. And? It's pretty great. I did take a lot of history courses that covered this particular era, but this is almost like a refresher course. It's surprisingly accurate in so many respects, aside from the oft-mentioned fact that the two main characters always manage to be at the right place at the right time. But their acting is terrific, as I've always liked Ray Stevenson (I thought he was actually pretty good as The Punisher, and he has also shown off his comedic chops in stuff like The Other Guys) and Kevin McKidd has been great ever since I believe I first saw him in...Trainspotting (?)...I think that was it. And Ciaran Hinds makes a pretty great Caesar. Obviously, you can see the amount of money they poured into the series just based on the enormous sets and amazing costume and set design. One thing that I'll agree with when it comes to detractors and what some view as one of it's faults would be the sometimes excessive amounts of nudity and whatnot. I'm not a prude or anything, but occasionally those scenes can kind of drag on and slow certain episodes down. But? Everything kind of worked out, as John Milius and Bruce Heller really got to direct this series, while Milch abandoned his concept for a "Roman series" and instead made the incomparable Deadwood. So basically everybody won in the end, although obviously both shows were cancelled somewhat prematurely. I look forward to watching the second, final season.

Currently watching Heroes. We've enjoyed this series (sans commercial breaks) although Season 4 is a weird departure from the storyline in Seasons 1-3 that kept us captivated. We'll watch the event series (Reborn) next.

Re: Last Show You Binged?

Rome: Season Two - Decent ending for the series, given that, like Deadwood's ending, it was kind of abrupt and unplanned. Nevertheless, they did a decent enough job bringing the series to an adequate conclusion. I enjoyed it for what it was, and eventually I'll check out the special features. To me, the real selling point of the second season was the incredible and hilarious performance by James Purefoy. I've always kind of liked him but don't really see him in a lot of things, as he mostly sticks to TV shows and doesn't seem to do a ton of movies. That kind of surprises me because I think he could or could've been really big. I remember a while back their were people throwing his name into the "next James Bond" mix, and while I do think he actually would've made a pretty good Bond, I think that ship has sailed given his current age. Anyway, I hope he expands his prospects in the future and ends up with more prominent movie roles in the future...

Death in Paradise .. up to season 8 now. The show has a formula that it rarely deviates from, but it has enough good locations, mysteries, humor, and characters to make it a good and fun show

Re: Last Show You Binged?

About six weeks ago I got this deal at Amazon that got me the Shudder Channel for 99 cents a month for two months. I just started watching "Just Joe Bob", which is all the Joe Bob Briggs segments from The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. This is terrific stuff, and John Bloom as "Joe Bob" is an expert monologist. Right now I'm finishing up Season One, which was a 3-day movie marathon that was intended to be Joe Bob's "farewell" to movie-hosting. However, since then he's piled up 91 episodes at Shudder under one title or another. I just wish "Joe Bob" or the director would get on the same page, as he's often delivering his lines to the wrong camera. It might be intentional for comic effect, but I find it distracting.

*by the way, Amazon is offering a similar deal right now for many of it's channels as a Prime Day promotion, -99 cents a month for two months, -and channels include Paramount+, AMC+, Discovery+ , EPIX, and more.

Over the last few weeks I binged the entirety of Endeavour from the BBC (2012-19, 7 series) on Amazon Prime.

It was a prequel of sorts to Inspector Morse (1987-1993), and chronicles the cases of DS Endeavour Morse. It was a great series and I am excited to get Netflix back for a month and watch the original series now.

Mythic Quest - just watched both seasons in 2 days. Not sure how I missed it until now, but I really liked this one. I hope they have a 3rd season.
