A little bit of slowness in some parts of the show.. But what I felt they did well was really darn well.. The final scenes of the trial made the episode for me.

Loved Peter's delivery of those lines.

Agreed. His delivery and way he gave those lines was spectacular.

"I wish I was the monster you believe me to be."

Though I hope I am remembering that line correctly.

The ending just killed everything dead.

Amazing, his words had the same effect as dragons.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Laws of Gods and Men" -- 5/11/14

The idea of Tyrion going to the Wall and hanging with Jon Snow would be awesome but I'm guessing that won't be happening now. Would Tywin still have gone along with Jamie's deal even with Tyrion not confessing? How bad did he want an heir with the Lannister name?

Anyway, I'm guessing now that Tyrion has asked for trial by combat, that is what will happen. Can his request be denied? Will he have Bronn fight for him again? Will it end up being Bronn vs. Jamie? Obviously, I'm not a book reader and don't want to find out what happens...just like to hear the speculation from non-book readers.

that was an awesome last 10 minutes. WOW! Tyrion crystallized everything he has gone through in those last 5 minutes. That was intense.

You could watch the show's trailers that are already online for this season because...
Spoiler:
...there is a brief glimpse of the Trial By Combat in some of them.

(Not sure if this hint actually counts as a spoiler for anyone who has watched the trailers, but still tagging it as such anyway)

Yeah, he more than made up for the fact that they wasted time with Ramsey and Reek.

Yeah, save for the Ramsey/Reek stuff, that was a great episode all around. I hope they kill that Ramsey soon, he's annoying.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Laws of Gods and Men" -- 5/11/14

Can someone tell me if there are new scenes prior to the opening titles this season, or just previous episode recaps?

I enjoyed the story in the north with the Boltons in the books, so I don't mind scenes with Reek/Theon and Ramsay.

Besides, Ramsay is probably the most evil character at the moment so
Spoiler:
you know he'll stick around for awhile

I was mad too, considering the episode was only 50 minutes long. WTF?

I knew it was Shae coming in as soon as I heard the heels. Isn't that pretty much her death sentence (admitting to being Tyrion's whore)? Or maybe they promise her they wouldn't kill her if she told the lies they wanted? Not looking for book spoilers. Just thinking aloud.

Also, loved the scene with Stannis sailing under the massive statue. Very cool!

As has been said, Dinklage destroyed it tonight. Tyrion is my favorite character in the books and they could not have done better.

Also loved the new Braavos animated city in the opening with the coins rolling through the town. A small touch of creativity that I really appreciated.

Re: Game of Thrones -- "The Laws of Gods and Men" -- 5/11/14

I always go back to Tyrion (rightly) thinking he's smarter (but not more ruthless) than his siblings. I try not to mentally write this show and just follow where it goes, but I was actively hoping Tyrion wouldn't just be a complete victim marched to his death. We kind of got that with Ned already. But Tyrion's not Ned, and he hasn't been since the beginning of the show. Tyrion's been a guy who looks at the world for how it is, not how he wishes it were. And he came right out and told us he enjoys playing the Game of Thrones and outwitting people. How rewarding it was to see this person who has little physical stature, bring his mind to bear on a seemingly hopeless situation.

Loved it. Amazing episode. I was probably the only one who noticed this, but if thought Peter Dinklage was pretty great tonight.

Also loved Dany's throne room. Very cool set. And the dragon frying goats? More please!
But Reek and Bolton's bastard stuff can't end soon enough.
