The Simpsons- Brick Like Me- 5/4/2014

Good episode - I was worried it would just be all lego, and liked how they switched back and forth.
Agree- it was a good Homer / Lisa episode
I also liked when bart made the huge robot at the end. When I was a kid we would mix up all the pieces and make what ever we dreamed up... but now Lego kits are so intricate that people must just build them and display them

Happened to me one time - Check your cable settings first, then on your tv.
If you use regular cable or satellite service, then the signal must be selected from the audio menu on your cable box, generally by selecting SAP or "Spanish" or "Espaņol." This will activate Video Descriptions

Laughed quite a bit. "Scottish steak!" was a great throwaway line.
I watched it this morning with my toddler, who likes both The Simpsons and The Lego Movie, and as soon as it was over she immediately wanted to watch it again.
That got me thinking: they're still eight seasons behind on Blu-ray / DVD releases. Why not do two a year and catch up? Release the old one that's next in line and this current one so any current zeitgeist references are still current?

Fox was releasing two seasons a year for a while. I have no idea why they went back to only doing one a year. It's kind of ridiculous they haven't caught up by now to the last season on DVD/Blu-ray considering how long they've been releasing the series.

Random question but do Kang and Kodos exist in the "real world" of the Simpsons or only in the context of the Halloween specials? Have they been to Springfield under non-Halloween circumstances?

When Homer is telling Lisa about how boring it is to play with your kids, my nine-year-old asked "Is that true?"

I know it's silly to worry about this, but I was bothered by them devoting a subplot to Bart rebuilding the school. Why would Homer have that going on in the back of his "dream". I would have rather seen more vignettes around the town; what is the power like? what sort of TV shows are produced in the Lego world? what is Gil selling? what's happening in the retirement home?...
My DVR crapped out about five minutes before the end, so I didn't actually see the whole show.

That's too bad because all of your questions are literally answered in the last five minutes!

It was an interesting concept and the change in scenery helped make the Simpsons feel fresh again. I actually wouldn't mind it if they expanded the changes in animation to other forms for future episodes. It's time to experiment considering how stale the show has gotten by now.

I think Lego is overrated, overpriced, and I grew out of them long before I grew pubes. Wasn't looking forward to this episode, but I was drunk, so I watched and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well played.
The producers have said they don't want to rush the sets. they are taking their time and getting quality commentary tracks set up, with runners/producers, actors, and guest stars. they are also gathering unique special features.
It takes time and money to get people together to do commentary (some producers and actors actually prepare-not doing it on the fly).
Also, they have to seek licensing for music for seasons made before DVD sets were considered. When the licensed music back then, it did not include distributing it on DVD.

I think it mostly comes down to slowing sales for the Simpsons' seasons. Aside from hoarders and obsessive collectors, I have to imagine sales were pretty bad for the teen seasons.
