Re: The Returned (S1E03) -- "Julie" -- 3/23/15
I am really enjoying this show (probably cause I haven't seen the original). It has good character development on how each person is coping with someone coming back from the dead, and has a bit of mystery each week too.
The only problem is these types of shows jump the shark quickly after the 'reveal' happens (usually at the end of the 1st season), as they never really know where to go from there. Does the French Version have multiple seasons and if so, did the quality stay the same?

Yeah I liked last night's episode too. However, it seems like this is getting torn apart by people who have seen the original version.
The stuff with Simon and Rowan is very odd, yet compelling. I'm not sure if she knows yet that he's back and not a figment of her imagination. And now her fiance is freaked out by him.
The scar on Lena's back is another mysterious revelation.
Still wondering what the deal is with the creepy kid & Julie. I was annoyed by the nosy neighbor.
BTW, anyone think the voice-over guy who says...."Previously on The Returned..." is the same one who did Lost? Sounds like him and I would probably bet it's him since Carlton Cuse produces this show.

I kind think the creepy kid Victor is somehow connected to the man who stabbed Julie years before and somehow he wants to help Julie, but there is a still dark side to him. I'm curious if Victor killed the neighbor or just somehow convinced her to leave him and Julie alone.

Ok episode. It was weird that Julie didn't push Victor more for answers regarding the neighbor's death. It was good to see Victor's backstory and it will be interesting to see him interact with Michelle Forbes' character. The flashback of Lena goes to see Camille's body was quite sad, but gave insight into what is going on in the present.

How is this version stacking up against the French version? I have these piling up on the DVR and trying to determine if they're worth watching.

Same question here. I loved the French version, but have been waiting for feedback before I start this series. However, there isn't a lot of talk around it yet.

Here's one guy's opinion... I love the original, but dropped this remake after 2 episodes. Despite having a cast that looks like it should be great, the original French actors were better without exception (IMHO). The moody vibe is lost here, too, but I suspect much of that is the lack of Mogwai doing the music.

Just watched this episode this morning. It was a good episode that gave additional backstory and details on some of the characters. We know that awful things will probably later on due to Adam.

Really enjoying this show, is it renewed for a 2nd season? It seems like no one is watching it as very few post in its weekly threads.

I got caught up on this episode and the previous one, yesterday. I'm enjoying this show, while it has a large cast, I think there has been a good balance between characters and storylines.

Another great episode as this is such an underrated show, but sadly no one is watching. Again, I never saw the foreign version so maybe that's why I am enjoying this so much.

Re: The Returned (S1E07) -- "Rowan" -- 4/20/15
I watched this episode earlier today to get caught up. I'm enjoying this show. I like most of the cast members and this show has balanced a large cast well. I only saw the pilot episode of the French version when IFC or Sundance aired the first series of that show.
From what I've seen on other sites, is that fans of the French version hate the remake. That isn't surprising because whenever a U.S. company or network remakes a foreign show, fans of the original get pissed. With the Being Human remake, I actually ended up liking it more than the original UK version.
I plan to watch the French version of The Returned just to compare it to this one. Sadly, i don't see this remake getting a second season. Ratings haven't been good and I wonder if ABC's Resurrection had some impact on the lack of interest in this show combined with anger from fans of the original.

Another great episode, and nobody is watching. Any word on a 2nd season, as it doesn't look good compared to the amount of the people who post in these weekly threads?

The ratings are atrocious so it's tough to say on a Season 2. Tougher because Netflix is in play with it as well (overseas).

I enjoyed this week's episode. As RichC2 said, the ratings have been really bad. i don't see season 2 happening. I have liked this show.
The kid who plays Victor/Henry is very good at playing creepy.

I'm pretty stunned. This is a pretty high profile new cable drama that no one is watching, especially here. I've been enjoying it even though it is a little slow. Oh well, I guess most here already have too much on their plate or have just let these build up on their DVRs unwatched.

This show is not quite as good as the original French version, but I am enjoying it. It's been a while since I watched the original, but I am noticing that the storylines are starting to deviate a little bit from the French. Although the French boy seemed a lot creepier, the boy in the remake is actually a lot more evil than I remember.
