BAD TEACHER is a single camera comedy based on the hit feature film about an always inappropriate, fearless and unapologetic former trophy wife who masquerades as a teacher in order to find a new man after her wealthy husband leaves her penniless. Dumped, divorced and broke due to a bad pre-nup, Meredith Davis is inspired by her friend's smart, awkward stepdaughter, Lily, to devise the perfect three-step plan: 1) Pose as a teacher at Lily's ritzy middle school; 2) Meet and marry a rich single dad; 3) Return to a lavish lifestyle. Using a phony resume, quick-thinking Meredith effortlessly charms Principal Carl Gaines, who is easily duped and oblivious to her agenda. The faculty includes Joel, her handsome former high school classmate turned gym teacher who sees right through her but is amused by her antics; Irene, a shy, introverted teacher who's overly excited at the possibility of making a best friend; and Ginny, the up-tight faculty president and busybody who resents Meredith and suspects something's fishy. Meredith may be the worst teacher ever, but she's the only one qualified to impart much-needed life lessons to Lily and her friends, while she keeps an eye out for husband #2.

So they're making a TV show based off a shitty movie?

What makes things more confusing is there is a new discovery show called Bad Teachers

^^^ I really enjoyed that movie. Rogen's wife is cute.

I'll ask the same question here that I asked in the thread for the first episode of Fargo. I haven't seen the movie yet but I have the blu-ray. Will it be better to watch the movie first and then the show? I'm guessing that it doesn't really matter in this case.

Save yourself about an hour and a half and just punch yourself in the face instead of seeing the movie.

It doesn't matter.

Just got done watching the Pilot. Thought it was awful and completely rushed. I'm out after 1.

No laugh track but also no laughs.

I would have liked someone hot as the hot bad teacher.

Now that David Walton finally found success with About A Boy it looks like Ryan Hansen is trying to take the crown of good actor who is always stuck in shitty shows that last 1 season.

Speaking as someone who actually liked the movie, I was curious about this show when I heard about it. Then I saw that it was on CBS and airing after Two and a half men.

I do like Ari Graynor though. I always thought Fringe should have used her more.

Watched it, and it wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as I thought that it might be. I'll probably keep watching it as long as it is on, but I wouldn't hold out hope for it lasting too long.

The film was stupid but sort of a guilty pleasure. That said I don't know how much interest I have in a series based around it. I missed the premiere but might check it out on demand or something.

I liked the movie, too, as a guilty pleasure. But this... was no bueno.

Truth. She looks transgender in this.

Compared to Cameron Diaz, she's a sideshow attraction.

I think Ari Graynor is hot enough, but not old enough. I don't see her having much trouble landing a guy.

An older actress playing a gold-digger would make more sense.

Re: Bad Teacher (CBS) - Season 1 Thread

Graynor looks alright and the cast in general is pretty good, but the first episode was too much of a super broad sitcom redux of the movie.

But yeah I agree, she isn't old enough. She's what, 31? It makes more sense having someone a bit more cougar-esque.

I had trouble paying attention to the pilot. I'll watch the rest of the series when it's out on Blu-ray.

Why would this show get a Blu-ray release?

I actually kind of liked it. I laughed out loud more than a few times. The running "water bra/panty lines" gag was funny.

Yeah, that's not happening.
