Discs. CSI I've seen quite a few eps and love it. I just recently got into DVDs/BDs after not buying any for years maybe even a decade and I'm getting all my favorite shows, almost done. And there's a special on Amazon right now Seasons 1-13 for $153.

Fringe does have Joshua Jackson going for it, I always had the :hump: for him in Dawson's Creek (didn't see one single ep but he was everywhere when that show was hot).

I challenge anyone to binge watch Dark Shadows.

The last show I full on marathoned from start to latest episode was Warehouse 13 during my Amazon Prime free trial period last fall. That was a pretty good show to binge view. I gave up on the Sci-Fi channel years ago so it completely slipped by my radar.

I don't believe one can fully enjoy a show to its full potential through marathon viewing sessions. The mind needs a break to process what is going on and ruminate over the storylines.

Farscape, definitely!

I'd go with House except it stalls out after season 4. It's darn near amazing up until season 5 with great writing both comedic and dramatic (but especially with the comedic angle of the show).

Of the ones on your list, House is the only one I've seen. I would highly recommend it. Yeah, it gets somewhat formulaic (maybe it's lupus?) but every now and then it will turn on itself (it's never lupus). That reminds me ... I think I only watched up to Season 6 (bought them up to this point in a Black Friday sale). I guess I need to finish it since it is on Netflix now.

The only other two I would consider would be Fringe and Farscape ... And I doubt I ever sit down to watch Farscape.

"gets somewhat formulaic?" I was never a huge fan but the handful of episodes I saw early on were the definition of formulaic. Someone comes in presenting with strange symptoms, House and the team struggle for 30 minutes trying to figure out what it is. More often than not making things worse before making it better. Then in the final 5 minutes they realize it's some rare-ass disease that 5 people on the planet have had and figure out a cure. Roll credits.

*disclaimer - again, only seen maybe a dozen early episodes but that was the impression I got and the reason I dumped the show early.

I have no concrete answer but I think when all is said and done, we'll find Kevin Spacey and Netflix are at least partially to blame.

Ok, but no breaks for sleep or bathroom visits.

Uh, 1225 eps at half an hour each is 612.5 hours or 25.5 days straight.

I think 'marathon' is straight through with no breaks. 'Binge' is more like a bunch of episodes one day, then a bunch of episodes the next day, etc.

Yup, House was extremely formulaic. The diseases were a per-episode hook, but the wit and serialized story arcs in the show made it hard as hell to stop watching. Plus the times it broke formula were the episodes that really stood out.

Quite frankly if you're going to give five episodes to Fringe, start with the Season 1 finale.

Trailer Park Boys. I watched every episode and all of the movies in just one week.

Forgot about House of Cards. That's another great one to binge watch, and only 26 episodes so far.

The best binge watching are serialized stories that carry over from one episode to the next. You can't stop watching and just fly through the series. Some of my favorite bing shows that haven't been mentioned:

Prison Break - first two seasons are fantastic, the last two drop off into goofiness, but still entertaining.

Battlestar Galactica (remake)

Sons of Anarchy

Justified

Sleeper Cell

Homeland

Revolution

Lost

The Killing

the first 2 seasons are utterly gripping!

aye, season 3 of prison break is funny

4 was meh to me when it aired because of the premise

however i've watched it since then and it's cool

overall i think this show still has great rewatchability IMO

lots of action, humor, love in it (good shows can always incorporate all these things)

I watched season 1, didn't care to come back for season 2, but I peaked in the threads here and there seemed to be a consensus that season 2 was worse than 1.

Re: Next TV binge watch recommendation.

Amazon had to go and ruin it for me

Now add to the mix:

Carnivale
Band of Brothers
The Pacific
The Wire
The Sopranos
Oz
Rome

ALL of which have been on my watchlist for years.
