It would be something (terrible) if either the outcome of the series or heck even complete episodes got out through some Heartbleed-like exploit and this decision to split the season bit AMC in the ass.

That's a risk they are taking, since they are filming all the episodes.
I thought this episode was OK. I mean Mad Men OK.

Ken not being able to throw Joan back her earring.
I thought it was a great season opener. Last season was kind of a let down, maybe the show has its mojo back.

I honestly couldn't remember half the things from last season.
I take it from his telling Megan that he needed to get back to work that she doesn't know he got "fired"?

Megan looked really hot in that short dress while picking up Don from the airport.
Good start to the abbreviated half season.
I barely recognized that was Neve Campbell on the plane with Don. I kept thinking she looked really familiar, but couldn't put my finger on it.

Was the Draper removed from the name of the company? Seemed like they said the letters a few times and I thought I didnt hear it.

I thought they agreed to change the name to SCP last year, going back to the legacy name, Sterling Cooper, and keeping Lane's name out of respect.

Anyway, I thought the episode was terrible. Basically, Don gets off the plane, eats a delicious sandwich (the highlight of the show), way too much whining from Peggy, Megan, Joan. Don's replacement is awful and the pitches were dull. Then Don gets back on the plane and eats another sandwich.
Other than the sandwich, the Ken joke and Vanilla Fudge at the end, it was as bad an episode as they have done, imo.

No, they dumped Lane's name as fast as they could, it was changed to Sterling Cooper and Partners.

I liked the premiere. We didn't see Don for a good few minutes into it, which was unusual. Freddy's pitch was all Don -- as we learned later in the episode. Glad to see Joan step up and take care of business when other's won't (though it is weird seeing Travis from 'Cougar Town' show up in the Mad Men world).
Roger sure is making the most of his mid-life crisis.

I liked how the agent addressed the fans strong feelings for Megan, you either love her or hate her.

Those teeth.
When said, wait I have to brush my teeth, I'm sure Don thought "all of them?".
Just kidding.

Re: Mad Men -- Season 7A Premiere -- "Time Zones" -- 4/13/14
Man, just finishing this drove in what a *horrible* idea it is splitting this show's seasons up more. This is the sort of show best viewed in binge watching - picking up on all the nuances. Having last watched the last episode when it aired and no recap, I found myself going "Huh?" way too often. I kept trying to wrack my brain remembering this character's most recent developments, or that plotline, failing miserably. This isn't a Breaking Bad where there are just one major plotline to remember, nor is it even a GoT with crazy amounts of characters but exceptionally memorable moments (Red Wedding, dragons... everything.)
This is a show where you can easily forget quite a lot, because it's mainly a slow moving character drama. One of the best shows ever, but really atrocious to view with long gaps between episodes. It won't matter for the 99.99999% who'll watch this in years and centuries to come via binging, but for the somewhat few of us who are watching it now, splitting this show up any more than required by seasons does both the fans, but especially the show, an incredible disservice.

They should really reconsider moving the second batch to January or something.

Re: Mad Men -- Season 7A Premiere -- "Time Zones" -- 4/13/14
Now even the broadcast networks are joining in the clusterfreak/bottleneck, airing unusual/off-beat quality shows all on Sunday. I watch exceedingly little of the Big Four's shows, but now add Crisis and Resurrection to my viewing list. So add new episodes of those, Game of Thrones and Silicon Valley, Californication, and heaven only knows what else I might watch elsewhen but don't because of so much on Sunday. Doing this sort of stacked, competitive programming is counterproductive regardless, but especially this day and age with DVRs? Putting a million shows up against one another harms only the shows and networks, and programming for Sunday nights assuming folks are busy other nights of the week, in a DVR age, is retarded. For example, Cosmos? On at Sundays at 9pm? Not a bloody chance in hell I would've recorded that last night. As it is I'll have to catch Resurrection ondemand, so already at least three shows I actively watch aired last night a 9pm. Cosmos a fourth, and I might well have given Turn a shot on another night - yes, I realize it repeats, and yes, I might still try it ondemand eventually.
AMC would've been best served airing this during reruns/non-sweeps. The fact they are aligning this instead, splitting it up so that both halves of the final season can go up against the height of new programming with late season replacements/whatever? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Here's an insane idea - first network to put a huge show on Saturday night wins the game of life. Maybe nobody watches it live, but everybody DVRs it because they're recording absolutely zilch. I guarantee it'd only gain viewers when factoring in delayed +7-day views and OnDemand.

Lowest ratings for the premiere since 2008 (season 2). Doesn't help that Sunday nights are so crowded. Plus, 2 more shows premiere next Sunday. Sunday nights are just ridiculous.
