Darn it. Zombie baby. Zombie baby had to die. I hate zombie babies. How can zombie babies run so fast. And where was Walt. WALT, WALT. Where are you Walt.

Very bad show, yet so good.

Look. It doesn't have the production value of Walking Dead or the budget, but it gets it done.
I'll continue to watch and have fun.

Agree 100%

It was exactly what I was expecting from The Asylum. This was essentially a low budget Walking Dead rip-off with B and C & D list actors and extremely campy. I was surprised that they killed off Harold Perrineau's character after 1 episode. Thought he was going to be a significant member of the cast. I guess that now goes to Tom Everett Scott.

at the Zombie baby. Why were those idiot survivors so concerned about going back in to take out that baby? It was locked away? It airs on a Friday night. It's pretty much a disposable time waster if you appreciate the stuff The Asylum makes. I already see we have a few comments from non-Asylum fans.

Best scene of the entire episode

Have Asylum done to TV before, or is this the first time? I knew them for those mock knockoffs of movies which are evidently rubbish.

I just watched the pilot and it was a little bit better than I expected. I'll probably DVR this show and watch it quickly on Saturday mornings. While this doesn't have the budget of The Walking Dead, I think this show seems less dark and I like that difference.

The zombies might be intelligent just after turning. I was watching one of the producers talk about the show. Some of the things I didn't pickup on. A zombie was driving the school bus. A zombie opened the bus door and ran out. I think they implied that the zombies got on the bus because they were trained to do that but they did it after they died instead of before. They get more zombie like as they rot.

Well, all of those floating in the water seemed a little too smart to just jump up like if a trap was set.

If people aren't familiar with Asylum's movies, Z Nation is about the classiest and most capable production they've ever been associated with before. Calling some of their movies as b-movies does that name a disservice. Most of their catalog is closer to C and D worthy.

Deadline reports that the ratings were actually pretty good, which makes me happy, as I am all in and will watch to the end.

It got a .5. That's pretty meh. Helix launched with better ratings and it barely got a second Season.

I bet this cost a third of Helix's production costs.

It's embarrasing. I guess after canceling Being Human they really need something on the network besides Canadian imports.

Yeah. "Dopey fun" is about as high a grade as this could ever earn, but it'll do fine as the replacement for The Strain as the undead apocalypse program I leave in the background as I do something else.

And the thought that the show couldn't afford to keep Harold Perrineau as a regular is freakin' hilarious.

I wouldn't mind a zombie show where every week one of the major stars gets killed and someone else comes on. The soldier got killed in the first episode but they picked up a sniper. Next week a woman can get killed and they pick up a woman, who has different skills. It doesn't have to be a man gets killed and replaced by a man or a woman gets killed but it would be good to keep a nice mix.

At first I thought it was Lennie James from Jericho/Walking Dead and wondered why he wouldn't just go back to The Walking Dead. My wife pointed out it was WALT WALT WALT

My prediction: Perrineau comes back (not as a zombie). I'm betting he injected himself with the serum (or the other guy's blood) when he went back. I'm basing this on the fact that they didn't explain the scars on his face. Don't exactly know why, but I think those scars were from a previous attack from which he recovered.

Weren't his guts ripped out? Not sure he can come back from that. Unless it's magic serum.

I don't think they can afford him for another episode. Perrineau commands a salary per episode that dwarfs the rest of the cast combined, which is how I figured he wouldn't survive more than two or three episodes once I saw he was in the cast. He might show up in a future flashback episode if I had to guess.

I was wondering why they would kill off the only actor in the show that could convincingly deliver a line of dialogue.

http://www.nbc.com/constantine/about...rold-perrineau

He took a bigger paycheck. Perrineau is on the cast of the NBC show Costantine. He's listed in the cast bios. Makes sense now why he would bail after only 1 episode. Plus, I doubt a character actor like him who has a decent resume would commit to 13 episodes of an Asylum production.

Re: Z Nation (SyFy) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/12/14

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but I didn't really find it all that engrossing, either. Reminded me of all the direct-to-DVD generic zombie movies that came out in the wake of the Dawn of the Dead remake. It was too middle of the road in terms of quality: not all that good, but not bad enough to enjoy in an Under the Dome sort of way.

Tom Everett Scott is in this and he's probably a "bigger" star than Walt from Lost.

I liked this though they totally telegraphed Walt's death.

Wait, Walt from Lost is in this in addition to his father? I haven't watched it yet...
