The Amazing Race: All-Stars -- "Down and Dirty" -- 3/30/14

THE TEAMS ARE IN SRI LANKA, WHERE AN EXHAUSTING ROADBLOCK DRAINS THE RACERS OF ALL THEIR STRENGTH, ON "THE AMAZING RACE," SUNDAY, MARCH 30

"Down and Dirty" - The teams are in Sri Lanka, where an exhausting Roadblock drains the racers of all their strength. Also, an epic race through the countryside ends with a footrace to the Pit Stop, on the All-Star edition of THE AMAZING RACE, Sunday, March 30 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Phil Keoghan (@philkeoghan) is the host.

East Coast/Central viewers. Prepare to pad. There is NCAA Hoops on CBS that starts at approximately 5:05pm ET and could run long.

Don't they usually space out the non-elimination legs a bit more? Maybe they just didn't want to lose the only eye candy (for guys) left.

What a bullshit non-elimination leg. Basically two bunch ups where everyone started at the same time.

Is it the next leg that the cowboys use or lose their express pass?

As soon as they showed the slo-mo jiggle right before the middle commercial break, it was pretty clear this would be a non-elim leg if Country Girls showed up last.

Re: The Amazing Race: All-Stars -- "Down and Dirty" -- 3/30/14

I have to admit feeling a bit guilty watching some of the legs in poorer countries. It's pretty incongruous to watch a bunch of healthy, well-fed Americans performing the menial tasks that make up the everyday work of many of those native people...especially when the Americans are just "playing" at it (and often complaining) and considering that all of the contestants are rich by the standards of those workers. Also, seeing the people badly in need of dental work and other things taken by most of us for granted is a reminder of how well off we are, and how much assistance much of the world can use.

I guess it's a good advertisement for foreign aid, so maybe it's a good thing.

Just wondered if anyone else gets that impression from time to time. Seeing the healthy blondes doing the paper challenge alongside the woman who was in charge of that detour really brought the point home again. I know that in the past some contestants have commented about the conditions and how they really sympathized with the plight of the people.

I felt the same when Leo/Jamal was offering people money to finish his sewing. He was just joking, of course, but the 100 rupees was not much to him especially in relation to the potential prize.

I think it shows that regardless of how bad our government is, there are many countries whose governments have completely failed their people. No amount of foreign aid will fix that problem. Many of these countries have vast amounts of raw materials that could be put to use for their people. Follow the money to see why this does not happen.

All the elephant teams finished behind the paper teams so that was the real race. Paper teams were just battling to not finish last.

I just noticed that Brent and Rachel's shirts say "Brenchel's" with an apostrophe and no object of the possessive? I guess I'm not surprised.

I think I noticed previously that on the back of the shirt is the word "BACK". So the phrase is "Brenchel's Back" (Brenchel is back).

So I'm supposed to give them credit for cleverness AND correct grammar?
