Arrow -- "Birds of Prey" -- 3/26/14

"Birds of Prey" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV)

WHEN THE HUNTRESS MET THE CANARY

When Frank Bertinelli (guest star Jeffrey Nordling) is arrested, Oliver (Stephen Amell) knows it's only a matter of time before his daughter, Helena, AKA The Huntress (guest star Jessica De Gouw), returns to town. To make matters worse, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is picked to try Frank's case, putting her right in the path of Helena. Oliver tells Sara (Caity Lotz) he will handle his ex-girlfriend, but when Helena takes hostages at the courthouse, including Laurel, the Canary will stop at nothing to save her sister. When The Huntress and Canary meet, an epic battle begins. Meanwhile, Roy (Colton Haynes) realizes he needs to keep Thea (Willa Holland) safe, but doesn't like the way he is forced to go about it. John Behring directed the episode written by Mark Bemesderfer & A.C. Bradley (#217).

Episode 17 of 23

Nice to see Jessica De Gouw back. Even though Huntress is batshit crazy, I prefer having her here instead of Laurel.

Anybody remember the CW series Birds of Prey with Huntress, Oracle, and Canary?

I'm sure most do. It was The WB at the time, not CW.

I really find it a stretch that Laurel wouldn't recognize Sara. Especially with how close in contact they were.

It really should be, Sara?

I like that they acknowledged the phone thing with Det. Lance.

Also clearly Laurel should have recognized Sara, but whatever.

It wasn't that good of a show. The network had much different executives running it.

Arrow has some really great action sequences for a weekly series. They pull off the superhero stuff much, much better than the crap we get on NBC and ABC, for example.

I didn't find it that believable but Sara did have a wig and was using a voice-changer. It's not like Sara is some giantess that would stick out, though I'm pretty sure most sisters would pick up on the similar bosom.

Re: Arrow -- "Birds of Prey" -- 3/26/14

I didn't really have a problem with Laurel not recognizing her in the courthouse. The courthouse was dark so she couldn't see her face clearly, she has on a mask, and is wearing a wig. Plus she had a voice changer. So that didn't bother me. What did bother me however, was that she didn't recognize her voice when she was getting ready to kill Helena.

So I wonder what Laurel's 'Once you let the darkness in it's hard to get out" line meant. Actually this is the first episode in awhile I didn't want to see Laurel immediately exit.

Liked the scene with Oliver and Lance, and Felicities comment about how it's hard to keep track of who knows your secret identity. Next weeks episode looks awesome. I can't see them ending the Deathstroke storyline so soon so I wonder whats going to happen.

That would be awesome if they turned Laurel into some kind of supervillain. It might be the only way to save that character on the show. Make her Deathstroke's girlfriend.

It depends on what Speedy does when he learns Slade has kidnapped Thea. And the confrontation between Ollie and Slade should be epic.
Now that her father is dead what do they do with the Huntress? Hope they find some way to work her into the storyline.
Now that Laurel has let the darkness in how far does she go?
There's enough story there to last well past the 4 or 5 episodes left this season.

I'm pretty sure this is the point when Huntress becomes a good guy. I liked the Huntress better when she was the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. She's not much more than a female version of the Punisher now.

The Suicide Squad is their version of Belle Reve from Smallville. They can stash villains there until needed.

when they left the scene, weren't arrow and canary holding hands? are they trying to out themselves?

i really doubt there is any way det lance doesn't know at this point arrow is ollie unless he is developmental disabled.

i was surprised huntress held her own against canary, even with that "I... am not left-handed" stuff.

i was hoping laurel would use some of her kung fu (that she displayed at verdant once) on the goons. maybe a crane kick or something.

angry roy is angry. he needs to chill and climb a flagpole or leap a parkbench or something.

Yeah, they were totally holding hands as they walked away, . Sara needs a specially designed mask to cover up her (sexy) buttchin.

< Tired of Laurel. She adds nothing but some drunk drama, that should have been Roy's, and some mild spank bank material...just mild.

Roy is a stupid character at this point. The actor playing him is "limited" in his acting skills.

Thea...who cares. See "Laurel" from above.

Someone has to play hostage on the show, that is reserved for Thea, Laurel and Felicity. Roy will play a bigger role down the road.
