I missed parts of it but I assume they weren't using alcohol during the drink-pouring challenge.

Rachel is making it hard for me to hate her this season, even though I hated her every other time. Nice of her to help calm Luke down, when he was being his normal bitchy self.

Love the Cowboys & Flight Time/Big Easy.

Bartending Cowboys, DJ Afghanimals. If there ever is a grand TAR finale Jet/Cord would be on that race. The u-turn is looming so it's important for those two to be ahead of the pack since every team is targeting them being the strongest (trampoline task an exception.)

So Rachel boasts being a cocktail waitress for years and that the detour was tailored for her, yet Brendon ends up winning the challenge for them??? They weren't on my fave list until tonite. That was sweet of them trying to calm mama's boy down and duly rewarded with a non-elim. A deserved butt slap for the crybaby, and a step closer to Brenchel making their own.

A note any "white knights" who may find this thread via Google. No need to create a throwaway account and post...Luke doesn't need your defense, and his behavior isn't above criticism just because he is

Luke and his mother have a very interesting dynamic. I get him losing his temper, but even more laughable is that at his age, his mother is still disciplining him on national television and he's taking it like he's 10. I'm sure his disability has caused him to age slower in terms of maturity in some ways, and it caused his mother to "over-mother" him, but the ties need to be cut.

And I agree about Rachel. She's making it hard not to like her this season. Go Brenchel!

Had the baseball wives from last season been with this All-Star group the trampoline challenge might be the best thing the show has ever done.....ever.

As long as they showed it like back on The Man Show when they did the "Girls on Trampoline" segment at the end of the show.

I loved Margie saying she thought Rachel was the biggest crybaby and Luke making fun of it right after Luke throws his temper tantrum.

I agree with Rachel actually being likeable this time. I've gone from rooting for her first out to rooting for her.

even afghanimals are easier to root for this season, I wonder if these folks conciously saw themselves on tv last time and thought they were not nice...

pretty good season so far...

That drink challenge would have driven me mad. I wonder what time it was when they finished? It looked like the club was closed or about to close.

Rachel had a surprisingly good attitude this leg.

I couldn't stand the Afghanimals last season, but they are really fun to watch.

Wrong the first part, very right on the second. His disability in no way has caused him to age slower, there's nothing that would even hint he has any mental disabilities, just because he's deaf.

But he's definitely been coddled and that's the whole thing with the "over mothering".

Re: The Amazing Race: All-Stars -- "Smarter, Not Harder" -- 3/16/14

Agreed about Rachel this time. I found her annoying the first time I watched a race with her.

Is one of the Afghanimals gay? There was an exchange at the bar between them and Jet/Cord where one of them told Jet he'd buy drinks if he could take him home. It may have just been playing with the banter back and forth.

I knew that this was a non-elim leg.. 1) there hasn't been one yet and 2) Margie/Luke were locked into the one task since they could not switch because of Luke's deafness. The other teams could at least switch if they wanted to. I thought that was a bit unfair and probably added to the frustration Luke had. Granted, he blew up at one point.. but I don't know why they would have had a challenge like that where he couldn't do the other one. Has that happened before?

They did note that it took them over three hours to complete but no mention of the time of day.

And yeah, I expected Rachel to come apart when they were conferring toward the end but instead she was really positive. What the heck? And the Afghanimals too. Maybe mphtrilogy was right when he wondered if people decided to change after seeing themselves on TV. I think Leo and Jamal mentioned wanting to do things differently this time.

I think they mentioned cranberry juice at one point.
