My wife came in and sat down while I was watching this episode. She asked "What are you watching and what is going on?"

I tried to explain and realized that I couldn't. It started with a virus outbreak at a remote research facility, then it looked like it was going to be a zombie thing, then there was the possibility of aliens growing in people's throats (whatever happened with the quivering throats?), then it got weird ...

Can anybody explain what this show is about and what is happening?

You mean the big picture?
We don't know all the details yet. But there's this group of people, 500?, that are immortals or something like that. Basically they are super healthy, don't get old as fast as normal humans, etc. They have a company that was trying to create a virus that would destroy the human population.
There's a lot going, I'm sure I'm not covering something important.

For such a promising start, this show has rapidly gone downhill. I really don't care about any of the characters anymore. Morbid curiosity will have me watch the rest, but I hope there's no season 2.

I'm with you Valkyrie. I want to like this, I really do. However we are two episodes from the end and no one can explain the premise of the show. At least with Lost we knew the premise.

Raul hit a point I missed, but that didn't even come into play until recently. I'm not convinced how important "the immortals" are. Hell, we've seen a number of "immortals" die.
