Believe -- From Creator & Director Alfonso Cuaron -- "Pilot" -- 3/10/14
SERIES PREMIERE - THE POWERS OF A YOUNG GIRL MAY DETERMINE THE FATE OF OUR WORLD IN A THRILLING SUPERNATURAL ADVENTURE FROM EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS J.J. ABRAMS AND ALFONSO CUARON
Since she was born, Bo (Johnny Sequoyah) has had gifts she could neither fully understand nor control. But now that she is 10, her powers have become stronger and the threat from malevolent forces that would use her abilities to control the world has grown more dangerous. With her life and future in jeopardy, Bo's protectors turn to an unlikely source to keep her safe - Tate (Jake McLaughlin), a wrongfully imprisoned death row inmate who's lost his will. Tate and Bo begin an extraordinary journey, changing the lives of everyone they meet as they keep moving to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces after Bo's power. The series also stars Delroy Lindo, Kyle MacLachlan, Jamie Chung and Arian Moayed.
Alfonso Cuaron who wrote and directed Gravity created this series and co-wrote and directed the Pilot.
Moves to Sundays at 9pm starting next week.

Sounds like a storyline out of Heroes that didn't manifest. And with Heroes returning, can both compete on NBC?

"SERIES PREMIERE - THE POWERS OF A YOUNG GIRL...."
That's where they lost me. I'd hate to say it, but Heroes is the reason why I'm not checking this out.
But I'll keep an eye on this thread and if the reaction is good, maybe I'll give it a chance.
Heroes really ruined this genre for me.

The ads were atrocious. That's why I bailed.

I thought it was ok.
I thought the kid was a better actor than the guy playing Tate.
I was surprised they gave away

If it survives the season I'll catchup in the summer. Sundays in NBC is death.

Haven't seen it yet, but I figure I have to watch it since Cuaron is directing this first episode. You guys says that doesn't even save it?

This show seems to be similar to Touch on FOX, especially the second season, with some variations. At least the girl can talk in this one.
I'll watch for Kyle MacLachlan though. Hope his part is bigger than it was in this episode.

It's religious fantasy for people that don't believe in organized religion or instead have New Age beliefs. They were definitely giving the little girl a Jesus as miracle worker vibe, with mysterious organizations fighting for control of her.
Think the Da Vinci Code without Christianity. I don't think building an entire show around a child actor is very good, they can quickly move from cute to annoying in a year or two. The reveal at the end felt like a sign of desperation, that is a plot point that should have been done much later in the series.

This show had a cheesy, "from producer Luc Besson" vibe. The guy playing Tate was awful and the lady assassin was a cartoon.

The female "assassin" was laughable, that was some of the worst fight choreography I've seen on network television in years. I thought I had been transported back to 1980 with the leg sweeps that miss by five feet.

I really liked it. (And I don't have any New Age beliefs, as far as I know).

Now if they don't want them to have that money they could say they went back and it was gone already (somehow).

Agreed - the kid is a better actor than the male lead, as is everyone else. Reminds me of The Blacklist in regards to the female lead.
