Re: The Simpsons- Diggs/The Man Who Grew Too Much- 3/9/2014

Both episodes were pretty funny.

The second episode ends with a somewhat touching sendoff to Mrs. Krabappel.

Spoiler:
They decided to actually quietly kill off the character, rather than just retire them like they did with Hartman's characters. The scene is a dance sequence with Edna and Ned, which is revealed to be Ned thinking about Edna. Ned is then shown sitting in his living room next to pictures of his two wives (not counting his Vegas wife) wearing a black armband. Ned says "I sure do miss her" with Nelson chiming in from the outside "Me too."

That was very touching.

I wonder who did her voice. Or was that a recycled scene?

I guess it was a recycled scene or one that was cut from a previous episode... any scene would have worked.

But I thought the Diggs episode was kind of depressing, and the 2nd episode just kind of ended abruptly.

Didn't they have a chalkboard scene, close after she passed away? I did like the quiet ending of the 2nd episode with a character acknowledging it.

The first episode was decent.. Did not like the couch gag bit at the beginning. Too long and not very good at all.

Well, shee-it! I missed the first one. I didn't turn it on until 7:00. I thought it was okay.

I really liked the first episode, it was a change of pace for a Bart episode. Lisa would usually get that type of friend. It was a nice farewell for Mrs. Krabappel, I can't believe another long-time character is now gone.

I wonder if they have ever thought of permanently adding new supporting characters? Will Mrs. Hoover now be Bart's teacher?

I thought both the episodes were good too. I do agree that the first episode felt like a storyline that would usually go with Lisa more than Bart but it was a nice change up and I overall thought it was a good episode.

I also liked the second episode and enjoy seeing Sideshow Bob popping up as he's always a favorite character. I liked that we got a tasteful sendoff for Mrs. Krabappel too. I know it's not anything the actress could control but poor Flanders can't catch with losing two wives now. I wonder if the show will address her death beyond that short scene or not.
