Cosmos (new show from Seth MacFarlane) Premieres 3/9/14 on FOX
Like the title says, the new Cosmos series, hosted by Neil Degrasse Tyson starts Sunday night.
If you are feeling nostalgic, National Geographic Channel is showing the original series starting tomorrow at noon. |

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and National Geographic Channel (NGC) announced today the global series premiere of COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY, the thrilling new 13-part series from executive producer/writer Ann Druyan and executive producer Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, "Ted"). The highly anticipated series will premiere in the U.S. on Sunday, March 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, and encore with all-new bonus footage and behind-the-scenes content on the National Geographic Channel (NGC) Monday, March 10 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/PT). Anyone going to watch this on FOX or on NGC?
A update of the classic 80's Carl Sagan series and Neil deGrasse Tyson hosts with Seth as the producer. It should look great in HD. How big is the cosmos? I've been an astronomy buff for decades. I was also a Carl Sagan fan. I did not like Cosmos when it came out and I find Neil Tyson annoying---so no interest to me.

The first episode is apparently a little heavy on the battles waged in faith vs. science, but after that allegedly it's pretty sweet.

NGC will also replay the original Cosmos on Sunday morning/afternoon before the premiere.

That's a good review of the show and I'm glad I was warned about the little cartoon interlude. While I like Seth MacFarlane, I don't watch any of his work as I don't like cartoons. It's possible I would have thought the cartoon interludes would be common after seeing the first, and might have tuned out.
I have zero problem with Neil deGrasse Tyson. For the TV geeks, in the talkback comments, there's a pic of Tyson and The Science Guy (Bill Nye) talking with the actor who plays Rodney McKay in the Stargate movies. Spoiler:

It's ironic that this is on FOX given all the shit Fox News gives to people in the science fields about global warming and evolution.

I think FOX is liberal since they don't have their own news division unless they use the FOX News Channel feed for a major story.
