Re: Justified -- "Whistle Past the Graveyard" -- 3/04/14
Total filler episode. Boyd is still in Mexico. Ava is still trying to smuggle heroin into prison. Raylan isn't really doing anything.
Of course, adding William Forsythe to anything equals awesome. |

A ho-hum episode, which is unusual for this show, even when they are one-offs... I blame it being sucked into the Kyle Bornheimer abyss (only Brooklyn Nine-Nine could save itself last night). |

Yeah, but he really didn't have much to do; a wasted opportunity.

i am not really enjoying the three tier story structure. i wish they would drop the ava storyline and stay with raylan and boyd.

Re: Justified -- "Whistle Past the Graveyard" -- 3/04/14
Episode was pretty boring. Don't care about Ava, don't care about the Crowes, and Rapaport's accent is horrible. Raylan's been doing pretty much nothing this season.
WTF happened this season? |
Re: Justified -- "Whistle Past the Graveyard" -- 3/04/14
Yea I though it was just me, thinking this season is spinning wheels. But I have faith these 3 stories are going to pay off in the end.
Yost admits they were short an episode with the actor playing Jean-Baptiste leaving. This episode was the result: http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/03/05/ju...ast-graveyard/ |
Re: Justified -- "Whistle Past the Graveyard" -- 3/04/14
Yeah, as much as I love this show, this season is set for the weakest so far. This is the first season after Elmore Leonard's death. Not that he ever had a huge hand in the show, but maybe his influence is missing.

Re: Justified -- "Whistle Past the Graveyard" -- 3/04/14
yeah, it really was a pointless episode. Won't Boyd finally get his drugs?! I mean, the Ava storyline last night was more compelling than the eventual double cross and waste of time that the Mexico story was.
Oh, my bad, American bodies in Mexico? How about we torch them instead and then dump them in a ditch. No cop is going to give a shit. |
Re: Justified -- "Whistle Past the Graveyard" -- 3/04/14
Have to agree with most of the comments here. In addition to this episode, the season as a whole has been a bit of a letdown compared to the previous ones (at least so far)
While I'm sure the Ava story will have some pay off in the end (I have to think the favor Boyd will have to do for her will somehow intersect another storyline), it seems like a lot of effort and filler unless that payoff is huge. The Boyd and Crowe family interaction also isn't working for me; I don't think they have built those characters enough to think they are even close to being in the same league as Boyd. I think the other problem is.... not enough Wynn Duffy. |

I would also say I don't really have a great deal of faith that the three stories this year are going to pay off and feed into each other like we're used to. Maybe I'll be wrong. I have a feeling this will go into the books as the weakest season yet, and the more I think about it, I think last season was the strongest one (with the Bennett season a very very close second). ETA: As to Wynn Duffy, I think I want to see a FX series greenlit in a couple years that involves a LA setting and characters from every successful FX show being thrown into one series together. I know for a fact that I want Dutch from The Shield and Wynn Duffy from Justified to be a part of it. I lean toward Bobby Elvis for Sons of Anarchy and Christian Troy for Nip/Tuck. |

For some reason every time that kid says the word pervert, I just want to punch him. Just the way he says it gets on my nerves

Still love moments of dialogue like this: Wendy Crowe: "Thanks again, Marshal." Raylan: "That was your first thank you." |

I'll admit I stopped watching halfway in. Which is unfortunate because I really do like this show.
