Episode 13 of 13

Last episode of the season. Hopefully not forever.

To try to make a positive spin on Almost Human's future. Here are the Live + 7 DVR ratings. If you don't get what that means. These are the ratings with people who DVR the show and watch it within 7 days with commercials. People who fast forward commercials aren't included in this. I know it defeats the purpose of a DVR, but that's how it works.

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...eek-21/241452/

Almost Human jumps 75% in the demo from 1.6 to 2.8.

Total viewers jumps from 5.5 to 8.3M viewers for a 52% increase.

It shows that more people are DVRing the show than watching it live, but people are watching. I can't predict what FOX thinks or expects, so we'll see.

Let's hope it gets a renewal.

Hopefully it gets renewed, I've really enjoyed it.

I've really dug it as well. Wish they would've included more of the mythology angle but hopefully it doesn't get the infamous Fox ax.

Being more of a science fiction cop procedural will probably help it. People can jump in anytime without feeling hesitation of not seeing previous episodes.

The thing that really makes the show fun is the banter between Dorian and Kennex. They really got that right.

who would DVR a show, watch it later, while still watching the commercials?

I'm hoping for another season. I think they've been fairly creative with the sci-fi aspects, usually without being too over-the-top. They've kept it grounded and consistent with the theme of the show--many of the crimes and conflicts we've seen have to do with the blurring of the lines between humanity and technology. Nanobots, cyborgs, genetic engineering, etc.

Haven't seen this episode yet (working through free On Demand) but hope it gets renewed.

I'm not too confidant about a renewal. In hind site the season didn't play out like a limited short season series the way Sleepy Hollow, the Following or Under the Dome did. I think they were hoping to get an order for addition episodes. There are too many loose ends - Kennex's girlfriend and her group, who's planting memories into Dorian, the stolen synthetic souls, etc... I think they are all linked but we might never know. Fox has surprised me in the past with renewals to Sarah Connors and Dollhouse so there is hope.

I have my fingers crossed that this gets renewed but since we're talking about FOX, I'm not too hopeful. The season ended on a good note though.

I just got a Fox questionnaire about the show. Hopefully they are getting feedback about the show on whether to bring it back. Pretty much said what most are saying here. Great balance of ski fi without being over the top, love the dynamic of the 2 leads, but was hoping for a bigger over arching plot that never materialized. Each time I though one would be introduced it would just be non existent the next. Really hope it comes back. The final scene with the outside noodle joint and the music last night really had the Blade Runner vibe.

Re: Almost Human -- Season Finale -- "Straw Man" -- 3/03/14

Detective Richard Paul: "What, no fanfare for my return, Kennex"?
Kennex: "Detective Paul, great to see ya" ... "hey, ah, they want ya outside"
Detective Richard Paul: "Oh yeah, who"?
Kennex: "Everyone in here"

This better get a second season. We need to know what the visions are and what they mean. We also need to know what the deal is behind Kennex GF betrayal.

"Everyone in here". I'm definitely keeping that one in my pocket.

Just like some of you guys I find it odd how little the follow up on some of the bigger stories and issues the show brings up. I think it make sense to limit more serialized stories if they want this to be procedural/sci-fi, but they should pick one or the other.

Earlier in the season they had women getting skinned to create realistic sexbots, now we find out they have the technology to print organic objects, including skin, that fool medical examiners.

Yeah, that was completely ridiculous. Besides, if a body's being printed from the bottom up, the lack of a circulatory system would cause cells to start dying as soon as they were printed.

For some reason I was behind in the last two episodes of the season. I guess there are no news about the future of the show.

I really was expecting more mythology in the finale. Something big like Fringe season one finale. More about the wall (?), and of course the girlfriend.

I guess I'll watch either way, if they go procedural, or mythology. The thing is, if it's procedural, I'll save episodes in my DVR, or watch in OnDemand. No pressure. Mythology series, I watch them right away, even live.

Considering the guy was printing corpses, the fact that the cells started dying as soon as they were printed wasn't really an issue.

In fact, that might explain the disparity between the two episodes regarding human skin. It could be that printing living skin wasn't possible, so the criminals in the other method had to resort to harvesting it from real people.

I agree with Kdogg that this episode felt like the creative team had been hoping that FOX would extend the first season by picking up a "back nine." Even though FOX didn't do that, I'm hoping it did well enough to get picked up for a 2nd season.

Likely people that watch television as background noise. I know some people will watch a program while doing something else, such as cooking or even reading. It's questionable how much value those people bring to advertisers.

Unfortunately, I saw this coming. With Fox renewing The Following and picking up Gotham, there was no way they would keep 3 shows produced by Warner Brothers. Plus, the heavy special effects costs probably played a huge factor.

Hmm. I still have the last five episodes on DVR. Not sure if I should delete them or at least watch the final episodes.

The show is very procedural as you probably know. Episode 13 was a self contained episode. No cliffhangers. It's still worth watching.
