"Vesuvius" - On the morning of the wedding, Lily and Robin have a fight and Barney freaks out about which suit to wear. Nothing against Tracey Ullman... but they really blew it with casting Robyn's mom.
And seriously... if the mother dies and that's why Ted is telling the story I'm going to be so pissed. They strongly hinted at that tonight.

I thought they were talking about Ted's mom dying and not being at his wedding. Or thinking back on it maybe the mom has a terminal condition and will miss the kids wedding. Damn that wound be dark.
I'm sad that it looks like they are going there.

It'll star Greta Gerwig, not Cristin Milioti, and appears to be completely separate from HIMYM. I'm thinking of it more as a sequel, not a spinoff.

I haven't watched tonight's episode yet (it's sitting on my DVR), and I don't think I will.
If they're going to kill off the mother, I'm going to bow out now. It seems like nothing but a huge middle finger to the audience who's been watching this for almost ten years. I went through this last year with Dexter, and I'm not going to let them pull that shit again. I'm cutting my losses now.

So in 2024, Ted and wife are back in that hotel, and it's hinted that she's terminally ill.
And it's 2035 that he's talking to his kids.
Will the show end with Ted saying, "And that's how I met your mother.....who died when you were very young. Sorry about that!"
Not sure I like that direction.

Besides, even if they do kill off the mother, the time line does signify that Ted and the mother lived a happy life together and, as this episode indicated, they really did grow old together.
Hell, maybe it'll end up being a case that the kids are being read Ted's last will and testament about how he met their mother by this Bob Sagat voiced actor, and thus BOTH Ted and the Mother are now dead.

2030 Ted seems less of a whiny bitch than present-day Ted, so it's unlikely his wife has died.
That being said, if she has it will be a tonally self-defeating wrap-up to rival all others. "Kids, I smoked a bunch of weed, got drunk on a regular basis, went on wacky adventures, and got a lot of tail. Now your mom's dead. Go brush your teeth."

*Sigh* I should really know better at this point with this show. So much goodwill has been tramped upon in these last two seasons. Dead Mom? *Sigh*
Just repeat to yourself: four weeks, phoned-in writing and performances, dead mom, the end.
While I guess Tracey Ullman is a get, I think they could have done better... Catherine O'Hara maybe?

Maybe she does have some sort of sickness, but overcomes it...

I think she's sick but gets better and that somehow ties into the story he's telling.
