Nic Pizzolatto has been the solo writer this season (he's also the creator), so I don't think he'll be going anywhere. Whether he gets some help with the scripts next season, who knows. HBO hasn't even actually renewed this yet - I'm not sure what they're waiting for.

I'm down for women or men detectives as long as the next season is as great as the first one has been. Trying to think of some leading actresses that would fit well for the tone of this series but not coming up with any off the top of my head. Doesn't mean there aren't any though.

Jodie Foster was also the first name that popped into my head. That would be a tough 'get', but maybe if they let her direct some of the episodes as well.
Or Meryl Streep...she can play anything.
Kate Winslet is a possibility too, especially since she has a history of working with HBO.
Then again, if they're looking for someone younger, please hire Jennifer Lawrence - especially if Season 2 is going to continue the trend of topless scenes.
