I don't see them anywhere here in Fremont and I don't want to pay $30 for shipping at their website.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Him and Colbert were probably the only guys doing new shows on Fri though this might end after labor day.

Fallon’s “Tonight Show” will, starting this evening, try out a few weeks of “hybrid” Friday shows. On Friday broadcasts from July 20 to August 17, NBC will air “Tonight Show” broadcasts featuring an original monologue and Fallon’s popular “Thank You Notes” segments along with celebrity interviews that have aired in the past. NBC says “Tonight” will resume full original episodes on Fridays after Labor Day.

“Tonight” isn’t the first to test the idea. Last summer, CBS’ “Late Show” tested similar hybrid broadcasts on Fridays, combining fresh segments early in the broadcast with recent interviews between guests and the show’s host,, Stephen Colbert. This summer, “Late Show” is airing full original broadcasts on Fridays, according to a spokeswoman for the program. Tonight’s broadcast is scheduled to feature an interview with and performance by Janelle Monae.

I wonder why TBS airs one of Conan’s comicon eps on Saturday night instead of Friday.

Yeah, previous years Conan skipped Friday night and did Comic Con shows on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Well, since no one has posted in this thread in seven months, maybe the venn diagram of DVD Talkers and Fallon viewers does not overlap much, but people should check out Monday's 5th anniversary show. They did the show as a full-on tribute to The Larry Sanders Show.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

It's up on Hulu and some other sites, agreed it's worth a watch. The Fallon hatred was great and overall it was kind of bleak, solid effort. The fact the Tina Fey interview was still mostly real was a nice touch.

"You're such a bad actor."

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Since I suspect most of Fallon's viewers don't have a fucking clue what The Larry Sanders Show is, I appreciate that Fallon's team made the show more to amuse themselves than the audience. Everybody complains that Fallon is such a panderer and pleaser.

Carson used to have anniversary specials in prime-time that were just clip shows. I'm a bit surprised they aren't doing that with Fallon.

The fifth anniversary show was great and maybe the people that don't like him should check it out.

I assume the clip I saw posted on you.tube of Jimmy being a jerk to ("Crocodile Hunter") Steve Irvin's kid was from this episode. It was posted as a "real" occurrence.

I guess one could argue that it was "real" in the sense that it was Jimmy Fallon and young Irwin saying those things to each other, but you have to watch the show to discover the context, which is the point of a clip: to get you to watch the show.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

He has been working overtime with 5 special Sunday night shows after Sunday Night Football.

He probably takes Friday off when he does the Sunday shows and he will do a show at the University of Texas in November.

I guess I'm old since most Sunday nights I am thinking about going to bed before the games even end, much less staying up past the local news to watch Fallon.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

A 5 year extension

Hope he reclaims the #1 spot again now that Trump is gone.

NBC Universal is keeping Jimmy Fallon around for a long time. The Tonight Show host will continue his run for at least another five years. Susan Rovner, the chairman of entertainment content for TV and streaming, announced the renewal during an interview with Hoda Kotb during the NBCUniversal upfront. The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon premiered in 2014, and he is the sixth host of The Tonight Show franchise. The Roots is the show’s house band and Steve Higgins is the announcer.

Under his new five-year deal with NBCU, Fallon will also develop The Kids Show Tonight, another late night program hosted by young people that will premiere directly on Peacock. It will also film in 30 Rock’s Studio 6A, opposite to Fallon’s Studio 6B. The late night host is also developing a revival for Password, the popular Bob Stewart game show. Fallon often plays the game in certain segments of his show with celebrity guests.

Fallon is also set to host That’s My Jam, which is based on one of his popular segments like “Roots Name That Song” and “Wheel of Music Impressions.” It’s a primetime show that will see two celebrity teams compete for charity in a series of games that involve music, trivia, dance, and other performances.

That’s not all. NBC is also working on an animated series based on Fallon’s children’s books. 5 More Sleeps ‘Til Christmas is a holiday special about a kid excitedly counting down the days until Santa’s arrival. Mama And Dada will be based on his books Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada and Everything Is Mama.

Fallon’s professional relationship with NBC goes all the way back to 1998 when he started out on Saturday Night Live as a featured player. Since then, he’s hosted Late Night With Jimmy Fallon from 2009-2014 before moving on to The Tonight Show, where he’s been firmly rooted for at least half a decade more.

People watch him? I don't watch any late night show anymore, much less Fallon.

I don’t watch him. Not really any resemblance to The Tonight Show anymore.

Kimmel is close and still entertaining.

Fallon’s show is so hacky and dopey.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Fallon is the safe choice. I think he’ll be around for a long time as long as he wants to continue.

Kimmel got too political for my taste. He can be funny, but I get tired of him. Never have really been a Colbert fan.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

Colbert is a douche and I saw a promo where he did a Biden impression and it was so lame.

I hope Fallon starts kicking his ass in the ratings again.

Re: The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Discussion Thread

I like Kimmel and Colbert, but don't watch either. I can't stand Fallon, going back to SNL. Really, I haven't watched any late night since Craig Ferguson went off the air.
