The West Wing and The Good Wife

Both shows do not get much love here, yet these are some of my favorite shows.

There are some similarities between the shows:
--Professional responsibilities are put above personal lives.
--Emotional crap kept to a minimum.
--Adult shows (notwithstanding the heavy liberal bent of the West Wing in the 1st 4 seasons).
--Dialogue based.

Are there people here who like one show, but not the other?

"The Debate" episode was intense! Loved that episode.

Re: The West Wing and The Good Wife

Probably because The West Wing has been off the air for 8 years...

There are plenty of Sorkin fans around here.

Don't know about The Good Wife. I've never stuck with any drama on CBS so I have no real interest.

Re: The West Wing and The Good Wife

The West Wing ended 8 years ago. Of course it's not going to get any love in 2014.

As for The Good Wife, I love the show and it has a small and steady fan base here. It's never going to get the fanfare on heavily watched shows like Game of Thrones or Walking Dead so don't even think about that.

Re: The West Wing and The Good Wife

I was looking at the West Wing episode threads, there was not much love going on back then either.

Agreed. Easily the best drama on network television, and it's only getting better!

Agreed... check it out as its a really well done series. Easily in my top 10 series of all time.

I never got into the West Wing... but when it was airing, I always heard positive things about it.

The Good Wife might be my favorite show on TV right now. I never watched The West Wing but have always meant to check it out.

There are a whole bunch of you who love one show, but have not really given a chance to the other. My conjecture is that you will love the other show too.
So just a heads up. There is another show, with lots of episodes you have never watched, just waiting for you to love

Re: The West Wing and The Good Wife

But what does one have to do with the other? It's not like there is a common link to each other.

That's like me saying oh... I love 24 and The Sopranos...and someone saying they've only seen one. Well yea...

There's plenty of shows people may end up loving...but never will watch.

That's the problem: Lots of episodes, and I have lots of TV to watch already. I'm still back-watching Buffy.

That's one I've been working on....simultaneously with Angel.

I mentioned some of the similarities in the first post.

The Good Wife also has some politics. The campaign manager has a strong presence on that show.

I love Justified, Buffy, Veronica Mars; but these shows are not related to The West Wing/Good Wife. I can see people loving Buffy, but being bored by the West Wing.

However, between the West Wing and The Good Wife, it seems, to me, that people will either like both, or like neither

Re: The West Wing and The Good Wife

And just a reminder that The Good Wife seasons 1 - 4 are on Amazon Prime Instant Video (free for Prime members).

West Wing I think is on both Amazon and Netflix.

people are missing out then. Imagine if someone fingered Cersei Lannister and then stuck that finger in her ice cream.

The premise of the Good Wife does absolutley nothing for me. And I really can't stand Julianna Margulies, so that just adds to my non interest in the show. It may very well be a great show, I am just not interested in it.

Give it up already. The people who are currently watching The Good Wife already like myself and a few others will stick with it until it ends.

Creating threads like this to try to glamorize the show & force feed it will do pretty much no good. There are many posters here who I am sure know about the show's acclaim and that it's liked, but simply don't have the time to backtrack and watch it. And you're not going to get anyone to start now since the show is pretty heavily serialized. And of course there are those like jjcool who have no interest in the premise or lead actor. Even if stuff is regarded as good, you can't force feed it on someone. I think you have to let people find it on their own.
