you know, i really don't know where i got that or even recall posting those series'. i'm not even sure now what i see in her, i think i saw her promoting Paper Towns and heard she had tv background. thought i looked it up, but now thinking i got her confused with someone. i really don't find her attractive. at least, not my taste. huh, have no idea...

They began the interview by getting her name wrong, then they asked her an incredibly insulting (and, frankly, stupid question).

As it has been reported since this incident, her male co-star has never been asked if he has read the book in an interview.

Oh, so it's chauvinism? Is it not a fair question to ask of someone, male or female, who is starring in a movie based on a book, whether or not that person has read said book?

I can understand not wanting to talk to some perky morning-TV schmucks in Sacramento, who have no idea who you are and don't care, but as they pointed out, she made however-many millions for the film, and if she didn't like the rules about promotion, she shouldn't have signed.

As I said, the question of whether she had read the book was stupid and insulting.

It would have been a stupid and insulting question had it been proffered to her male co-star, but (as the record shows) it never was--even once.

As I am certain you are aware, these actors do these junket interviews by satellite in a series, and the questioning can become very repetitive, and it is not a secret that the interview subjects can become bored.

An interviewer with even an ounce of professionalism ought to be able to engage their subject for a few minutes with some prepared questions and rudimentary facts.

That this young woman recognized that her questioners were apathetic jerks, and responded to them with sarcasm, seems entirely appropriate to me.

BTW, the budget for Paper Towns is reported as $12 million, and CD has indicated that she was paid less for this acting job than she commands for modeling.

^I don't agree at all that the question about having read the book is insulting. A mature person knows that these junkets are a requirement, and that many of their interviewers will know jack-shit about you and your past, and care even less. This actress, whom I've never heard of, was just peevish and disagreeable from the first moment.
Most of these local-news bobblehead types would have brooked her haughtiness for 5 or 10 agonizing minutes, but I actually love how the anchorwoman more or less told her to get lost by ending the interview early.:lol: Sure, the woman may have mispronounced the actress's name initially, but she quickly corrected herself and the three news people were all affable throughout. What are they supposed to do, kiss her ass?

I side with cara in this. I thought she was funny at first and handling the inane questions just fine (even one of the hosts later said he saw it as intentional sarcasm). But as soon as the spray tanned, blue suited, spiky haired super-douche chimed in and accused her of not being excited, that's obviously where she took offense and just completely (justifiably) was done with it. Then the female host piled on from there.

I so agree about Melissa O'Neil.

She's beautiful and is actually a decent actress. Dark Matter is actually are 1st major role. Been really impressed by her. I'm sure she will be getting many phone calls in the future. With her being of mixed heritage, there is going to be demand for her.

Well, not everyone - least of all me - knows this person was a model. I still don't regard the question, in and of itself, offensive. I don't believe anything was implied by it whatsoever. She was demonstratively miffed before they even started conversing. She's the one who looked like a petulant, ungracious bitch, but I guess I'm alone on this. The newsreaders were glib and vacuous, yes, but that's to be expected from those types.:shrug:
