it will end on the cheery note of an old dementia afflicted Ted looking for his long dead wife who ended up cheating on him with Barney

The title is rumored to be "The Rains of Awesome-mere".

Just joking of course, but chances are, we are putting a lot more thought into this than will eventually be revealed in the show.

Overall I didn't like the episode. I didn't find it funny and it just missed the target for me by trying to be sentimental (like Marshall's dad passing). The naked guy was cool though.

Re: How I Met Your Mother - 200th Episode - "How Your Mother Met Me" - 1/27/14

Is The Mother gone for good or just temporarily MIA?

As How I Met Your Mother nears the end of its run, the future of Ted’s wife has come under speculation with theories ranging from sad (RIP, Mrs. Mosby) to celebratory (Happy Anniversary!).

Earlier this month, HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas confirmed that by the March 31 series finale, viewers will learn the reason why Ted chose the time he did to tell his children the story of how he met their mama.

So why do you think Ted is spilling his guts now? We’ve compiled some of the most popular scenarios (born of our own collective bean as well as reader speculation) in the poll below. Cast your vote, then tell us why you’re a glass half full or glass half empty fan in the comments.

It will turn out its not really Ted telling the story, just a dementia riddled Bob Saget who is telling a made up story to some strangers' kids

Wow! Not sure what to think.

Maybe because she's pregnant?

normally i'm not a big fan of plastic surgery, but she really needs to get the bags under her eyes taken care of

edit: finally watched this one. I wasn't impressed by her singing or ukulele playing. If they're going to make it out to be this great thing it needed to be better

I like her eyes. Reminds me of Lizzy Caplan's and a girl I dated, lol.

She'd never spend money on something so ostentatious. She hates poverty, dammit!

Wasn't super funny but I really dug the end with the ukelele and Ted listening in.

Kind of neat that the Innkeeper knew Ted and the Mother would get together, since "Room #6 is the room for you".

I checked out of this a few years back, but have also been back for the final season. Thought this was one of the best episodes of the series. I almost cried.

No. In the stinger during the credits, Barney will show up on screen with the kids and tell the audience that this is how Ted really met the mom. Then another nine seasons of runaround.
