Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
could someone who watches this let me know if it is a somewhat self contained finale, or does the whole thing end on a cliffhanger that will (likely) never come to fruition?

Somewhat both. Most of the threads from this season are wrapped up but they set up next season quite well. It is quite an excellent episode. NBC really needs to pull a Hannibal and give Dracula another season. Not as good as Hannibal, but still quite excellent once it found its way. The last half of the season was very strong. It can find an audience I think through Netflix, reruns and BD

It looks like a major player has been taken out and a major player has stepped up. The situation might be a little confusing because there are still vampire hunters and vampires running around. Also anyone left alive in the order will know Grayson is Dracula.
I did a video on this episode, its not very good. http://youtu.be/gmVIywzFwkE |

I hope Nonso Anozie has a surprise cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier that is comprised of him viciously beating the ever loving shit out of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker.

Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
I do like that it tired up most of the season's storylines while opening some ideas for more if it gets picked up. I enjoyed it yet based on the way it ended it's not a huge loss if it is no longer on.
Jonathan sure fell far and quick. Van Helsing did it wrong! Going after the guy that killed his family - Completely fair, justified etc...! Going after the INNOCENT children of the guy who killed his family is basically the same thing he did to him. Which is not fair nor right. Of course most of the characters on a show like this are of questionable moral character. |
Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
I enjoyed the entire season, but did not care for the Loiza Scaverra character in this episode. While killing off quite a few of the characters, they did set it up rather nicely should the show continue.

Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
I kind of dug Loiza Scaverra. His odd ball look reminded me of the vampire Hellsing anime. I kind of wish this show was just one season long but with 20 episodes. I wonder if the writers have something planned.

I keep thinking I read somewhere that a company in London bought or invested in this show so it may continue. Of course I can't find the source now and may have dreamed the whole thing.

Looks like a setup for the classic Dracula storline. Van Helsing and Harker teaming up to save Mina from from Dracula. Lucy getting a stake in the heart. Carfax Abbey is now a ruin with Dracula hiding out in the ruins.

Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
Carfax wasn't in ruins, as I recall. It seemed to be quite far from the actual blast.

Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
It's ratings went up pretty solidly for the finale. Factor in that it is pretty big in the UK, on Fridays, fits well with Grimm and is high quality I can see a surprise second season like Hannibal. Of course I hope Hannibal is on for seven seasons if they can maintain what they did last year.

Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
Ratings went up for the last two episodes of the season, which is good news. I found myself getting more into the series as it went down. I'm a bit sad that Renfield got stabbed by Van Helsing. The other thing that irks me is that American accent that Rhys-Meyers uses. The infuriating thing is that his normal Irish accent earlier in the episode and it sounds fine. I just don't know why they didn't make the lead character Hungarian (or any other European race).
Storyline wise, I'm wondering how they deal with Lucy. Does she go hunt after Grayson or does she still chase after Mina? |
Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
Loved it. Harker and Van Helsing teaming up against Dracula. Lucy as the wild card.

I certainly hope Renfield somehow recovers. He's my favorite character.

This really felt like a series finale, finishing off so many storylines and killing several characters. They left it unambiguous that the Huntress is dead. I did think Dracula's consummation with Mina was out of place, though I guess they felt it had to be included as a favor to fans if the show did not get renewed. This was a very solid show after a somewhat slow start. It got better as the focus shifted to female characters like Mina and Lucy. |

I can agree with much said here. I enjoyed it and if it comes back, I'll watch for sure.

This show started slow and I almost gave up on it, but it started picking up the last few episodes. One thing I don't get is why Van Helsing betrayed Dracula. Wasn't he the one who dug him up or am I confusing Van Helsing with someone else? If it comes back, I'd like to see a bit more action. I was sorry to see the vampire huntress die. I would have liked more scenes with her kicking butt.

Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
That was the good part. Showing VH was more a monster than Dracula himself.
In early episodes he (Dracula) said he didnt want to feed on humans anymore. |
Re: Dracula -- Season/Series? Finale -- "Let There Be Light" -- 1/24/14
I think VH was growing upset because Dracula wasn't taking care of himself (feeding). And instead trying to be more human.

Someone earlier mentioned that if the show continued the entire order would know that Grayson is Dracula. I thought the only people that knew in the order were Lady Jayne and Browning? Of course, Van Helsing and now Harker as well. And I really hope that Renfield lives. |
