Archer: Vice (FX) - Season 5 Thread - Mondays
DESCRIPTION:
(from FX's press release, November 2013) Season 5 of FX's hit animated comedy series Archer moves to a new night, airing Mondays at 10 PM ET/PT beginning on January 13. The award-winning series has become the highest-rated comedy series on FX, and routinely won its time-period last season in delivery of Adults 18-34. Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS) and the lives of its employees. Although their work of espionage, reconnaissance missions, wiretapping and undercover surveillance is daunting and dangerous, every covert operation and global crisis is actually just another excuse for the ISIS staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gain. The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Adam Reed, and Lucky Yates. Archer was created by Adam Reed who also serves as Executive Producer alongside Executive Producer Matt Thompson and their Floyd County Productions who animates the series. Archer is produced by FX Productions. FX has ordered 13 episodes for the upcoming season.
Spoiler:
13 episode 5th season.

Odd they're ditching Thursday in favor of Monday for this. I no longer receive FXX, maybe it would have conflicted w/something airing on Thursday on that channel?

I was surprised they didn't carry this over to FXX.

poor brett, I knew he would be the one to get shot. again. can't wait for someone to go through that montage to see how many references were in there, besides smokey and the bandit, gator, and life of pi.

I wasn't 100% with some of the changes I read about (okay, I was 95%), but after watching the last five minutes of tonight's episode, I am sold. 110%. This is going to be epic.

Really could have done without the shot of Pam self-stimulating. No wait, who am I kidding, that was friggin' hilarious.

Archer Vice!
Great first episode, interested to see what they'll do now. I love the mentions of all the crazy shit they've done.
Good interview about the season, which has a lot of spoilers about the first episode.

I have yet to hear about them getting either Bruce Campbell or Jeffrey Donovan to do voices for the show....
Come on Archer, don't let this Florida setting with more burned spies go to waste! Especially with it all being under Fox licensing. Don't let me down!
I am so excited for this season.

'Cherlene' is releasing a country album 17 FEB, which will feature (amongst others) a duet with Kenny Loggins on a country version of 'Danger Zone'.
Great marketing.

What a gyp! Seriously. Take out the commercials and the clips from the upcoming season, and it was a 15 minute episode.

Agreed ... The concept for this episode had so much more to offer with a little more time. The "flash forward" gave away too much (easy to say now). Replace the montage with more shenanigans! That said, still loved it! Meep!

I kind of liked how long the montage went, but initially I thought it was just that and not an extended preview of what's to come. I guess given the big change from the status quo of the Archer world, they wanted to emphasize to the audience that this wasn't just a one or two episode arc that would return everything back to normal right away.

The promo shot above and the Archer Vice montage made we wish for a Grand Theft Auto game with these characters and storylines. That would be a ton of fun to play.
The episode definitely flew by and I wasn't sure if the montage was a preview of things to come or a "what if" and next week we'll be back to normal little or no explanation, a la Sea Lab.
I still enjoyed it.

I thought the episode was pretty strong but it also felt like something you would see on a DVD special feature. It felt more like a preview than an actual episode. I also was confused by the end. I couldn't tell if they were previewing upcoming episodes or if this was just Archer fantasizing himself in movie parodies.

Gah, Archer and Chozen haven't been added to my FX On Demand lineup. I guess I'll have to wait for the rerun.
