That’s a fair response. If this wasn’t attached to HIMYM, I wouldn’t stick with it.

It's completely watchable but definitely not very witty.

I forgot to mention, the massive blooper of Sophie and everyone bypassing TSA without a boarding pass to try and stop Ian at the boarding gate.
No way all of them bought airline tickets.

So, this was okay at best. I am still actually looking forward to watching as the eps pop up on Hulu because like I said, it is an okay show and not so bad that I cursed the TV gods for creating this show. It would have been nice to say hot damn, that was a pleasant surprise and a show that is destined to be considered a classic, but nope, it is a mediocre show that is easy to take-in while I futz around on my tablet.
For now, that will suit me just fine. As I noted just a handful of posts upthread, consider me an easy mark due to the casting of Duff and Francia Raisa.

Episode 3 was meh.
Sophie, Valentina, Jesse, and Sid are good characters. Charlie and Ellen are TERRIBLE, and it showed when the side story involved both of them together.
Too bad Camilla (the bar girl) was just a guest spot. Angie Kim, nice…

Finished Episode 4... This show is just bad. The writing is terrible.

Episode 4 story wasn’t all that exciting.
I forgot Charlie and Valentina hooked up in the first episode and was confused for a few seconds when they talked about their relationship status while party prepping. Character development is so bad with this show so far.
At least Ellen had a real story so far, instead of some stupid lines like in the previous episodes.
and I hate the actor Josh Peck (Drew), so everytime I see his face, I want to punch it

Still don't hate this show but it really isn't very funny or involving, I think I'm just bored of everything else and there are only so many episodes of Peacemaker and Righteous Gemstones.
The Family Guy take on it would have been better.

“The Good Mom” episode was meh again.
I really hate Charlie. He’s just awful. Cannot stand him. Ellen’s story had potential, but they quickly killed it.
Too many subplots.
I thought they were going to do a punchline where Sid reveals to Sophie he beat off to the bikini poster. And then everyone realizes Sophie was part of the poster too and awkwardness ensues
Only good thing from this episode was hearing the credits song - “Nobody Else” (Lany). First time hearing it. Nice song.

Now that's surprising. This show is awful. I'm still watching though, for now....

Yeesh... with that amount of episodes per season now it will really be as bad as a typical 3 camera network sitcom.

This show reminds me a bit of what Chris Rock said about the Spice Girls album that sold a bajillion copies, no one wants to admit to watching the show (and enjoying it, or will declare they are hate-watching the show) and yet a whole lot of somebodies are not watching, lol. Rock's observation that the Spice Girls album sold many millions and yet you would be hard pressed to find anywhere near that number who admit to having bought the album always makes me chuckle when I think about it.
Also, even if a large number of viewers loudly say but I am only hate watching and do not like the show, well your eyeballs are still included in the statistics of folks who are watching. If that many folks continue to "hate" watch episode after episode that is a whole lot of viewers and incentivizes the show's producers to create more episodes.
I will fess up and admit to enjoying the show and actually being glad to see the news it is getting a second season.

I'm still watching and not laughing - but there's something about it that keeps me watching. I like the group of friends in their 30s in a city setup, as done to death as it is

Ok, I actually liked Episode 1.6 - "Stacey"
I think it's because everyone had a matching storyline of getting in a relationship debacle. No stupid minor, unnecessary subplots crammed into the episode.
Also, Sophie could have selected Unsend (delete) on her IG direct message to Stacey.

Tried watch Episode 1.7 - lasted 5 minutes. The Charlie character is so awful, I've decided to drop the show.
Hilary Duff was decent and her storylines were interesting, but whenever they cut to the Charlie scenes, I felt like fast forwarding it. But that's no way to watch a 25 minute sitcom.

Nice crossover with the OG series for the finale.

I'll keep watching... Dont find it funny, and the writing is lacking, and I also dont care for most of the characters... but when you add in all the nostalgia from the original (opening song, the apartment, boat boat boats!, the captain, and the guest star in the season finale) and the fact that you can almost feel for Duff's character (and that Jesse character), it's just enough. Im in for season 2

Season 2 starts tomorrow.
I saw that John Corbett (61), who played Hilary Duff's (35) teacher in a film 20 years ago, was cast as her love interest.

I watch this in spurts, I guess I'm caught up now.
The 2nd episode this week was probably the best episode this show has had. In part the tried and true plot
, in part because of the HIMYM character. It also felt like it was written by a different set of writers and gives the rest of the season direction. Guess this was the midseason finale.
