everyone involved with the Oregon website should be fired and required to learn the phrase "would you like fries with that" for their next job.

Was very good. Reminded me a lot of uk style shows. Charlie brooker for example. But with more in depth. Did feel rushed. But the bits were very good. I think it will get made into an hour show. Or 45 mins

Anyone watch this last night?
I didn't think it was nearly as funny as the premiere last week, but still good. I thought the Death Penalty bit was the best. The stuff about the sultan of Brunei kind of fell flat. Oliver almost seemed a little TOO comfortable last night and, as a result, wasn't as funny as the first show.

I'm hoping it was an off-day and that next week will be much better.

Come on, the topic was the death penalty. It wasn't suppose to be a laugh riot, but a reflective look at our own society with some humor undertones.
I thought it was great television.

Yeah, he's not only going for laughs. He's going for indignation and social conscious combined with laughs. If he was only going for laughs, it'd be a half hour of nothing but dick jokes, which I'm okay with, but what he's going for here is good as well.

exactly. Well, Leno and some protestors outside the beverly hills hotel made some small blip on the map, but I'm sure the segment really busted the gates open for the topic.

Well John Oliver finally figured out that, "hey I'm on HBO, the network known for Violence & nudity"

Last night wasn't very funny, either.
I wonder if it's because they had a lot of lead time to work on their first show, but not as much (naturally) for the next two. So far, it's been getting less funny with each new show.

I agree with Jack. This is semi serious semi comedy. I like it a lot. But yes I cannot unsee that image.

Yeah, jokey jokey would be fine, but I like this slightly more biting approach.

I think this show is awesome and hilarious. I love the international spin that none of the other shows have.

Yep, last night's was the funniest since the premiere...loved the bit on GM, and loved the bit about getting links taken off Google.

I'm loving this show. It reminds me of how funny the Daily Show used to be before they started to believe their own press.

also attacking GM like that probably wouldn't be allowed on the daily show, as HBO doesn't have sponsors.
Last night's episode had 1 million tune in, = to past weeks, Which i assume HBO is very happy he's holding viewers

Although it's still good, the main reason why the Daily Show is not as good as it used to be is because most of the best correspondents have left the show (John Oliver being the latest) and the newer ones to replace them haven't been as nearly as funny.
