Chalky is a badass. starting to see things come together, I don't think the good Dr. is long for this world.

I'm guessing this is the assassination attempt on Al, although in real life it occurs a couple years later (1926, and I think we are still in 1924i in the show).

It's amazing how little fiction they have to create to weave this into a compelling story.

Things are falling in place nicely for an epic war.

I'm constantly resisting temptation to read up on the characters for fear of spoiling details and timelines about them I don't already know which will undoubtedly play out later in the show.

: phew : That was a pretty good setup. Although it was Chalky's fault he didn't finish the job.

Another war with Masseria?

Loved the ending. "Isn't it what we do?"

So how is it that Eli is standing there with the cops during the drug bust and he is not identified as having flipped? He's not sheriff anymore. Furthermore, how would Nucky be able to offer up the heroin back to Masseria after the bust? Are we to believe law enforcement is not going to confiscate it? Shit don't make sense.

Because that "prohibition" agent is known to be crooked and on the take. Only Eli knows he is actually FBI (well, just the BI at that point in time).

It looks like Nucky wants to be on Chalky's side but the lure of the money to be made in heroin was to great to keep him from aligning with Masseria and Narcisse. He did call the Mayor to get Chalky out of town so there is that but now that he knows the Mayor is working against him he is getting further isolated. Then there's still the matter of does Eli tell Nucky about Knox, does Eli kill Knox, or does he continue to work with him to bring down Nucky.
There's enough twists and turns to make a snake envious.

Yeah, the first half of the season it was hard to say what direction they were going, but everything has come together beautifully, as it always does on this show.

I wonder if Chalky will think Nucky betrayed him. I mean, he did, but Nucky tried to get him out of town, unknowingly handing him right to Narcisse.

I liked Chalky's scene with Richard in the alley.

Had Chalky and Richard interacted before? I'm drawing a blank.

I got chills from the scene with Chalky's daughter and Narcisse. I was afraid he was going to exact some revenge for the singer betraying him.

I think Richard helped Chalky with some KKK members.

This show is what the Sopranos should have been in my opinion. Many character driven episodes yet still an enganging storyline that actually delivers running through out. Sopranos had that until Season 4 (IMO).

Also, line of the night?

"Quite a Treat"

Rothstein is the best!

Yeah - I'm looking forward to the next episode.

I guess when they stopped the trucks it was routine for "agents" to do an inspection and probably a token confiscation.

But with this stop they were looking for drugs, and that may have been the token confiscation to appease the federal machine
