How I Met Your Mother - "The Poker Game" - 10/14/13
"The Poker Game" - When Barney is forced to pick sides in a fight between Robin and his mother, Lily coaches him on how not to ruin his relationship. Meanwhile, Ted and Marshall get into a dispute over wedding gifts and thank-you notes, on the final season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, Oct. 14 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Frances Conroy returns as Barney's mother Loretta, Sherri Shepherd returns as Daphne and Wayne Brady returns as Barney's brother, James.

No mother again... kind of lame.
I guess they digitally inserted Katie Holmes into the background of that party? I'm not really getting the timeline here. That clip was "6 years ago". The 2 Slutty Pumpkin encounters were in 2001 and 2011. I guess we are to believe that she was at other parties wearing the costume and he didn't notice her?

Ok episode but it was kinda odd they made a point of showing the slutty pumpkin in the background. I did like the callback to Marshall shaving his head just prior to his wedding.

It burned me up that they tried bastardizing Marshall's amazing dramatic analysis of the best burger he ever ate to describe a pizza that they've previously stated isn't even that good.

The show is called "How I Met Your Mother"... in the final season you can't just include the mother only once in five episodes. We need to know more about her for the finale to work properly - otherwise she becomes less relevant than Ted's other girlfriends because we saw them more.
Hell, do we know her name yet? Lily met her but I don't think they exchanged names.
I'm pretty sure we'll see her next episode though.
Marshal being in-transit 5 straight episodes is very lame.

Barney understands women and marriage probably about as well as Neil Patrick Harris. That whole storyline was ignorant. Barney is an idiot and doesn't deserve Robin. Him turning on his brother and mom was just the epitome of stupidity.
Fortunately Ted, Lily and Marshall carried this one.
Very creative and relatable. Best 'bit' in a while.

Yep, that was my main concern after the premiere, and I think is one of the main reasons I haven't thought much of this season so far. And he's only in Chicago, which is maybe 1/3 of the way? If we go half the season with him on the road it's going to suck.

Maybe they had to make Segel be separated from the rest of the cast as he makes a shitload more than them this season.
Just remember, he got paid $1.2 million for last week's episode where he was on an iPad for the entire 22 minutes.

Really? I would have thought NPH would have been getting the most out of the cast with the guy playing Ted at the least. Guess The Muppets really paid off for him.
