The Simpsons- Treehouse of Horror XXIV- 10/6/2013

Synopsis:

"Treehouse of Horror XXIV" kicks off with a tip of the cap to Dr. Seuss, with Homer scaring up trouble around Springfield as "The Fat in the Hat." In "Dead and Shoulders," Bart is decapitated in a kite mishap and his head is placed on Lisa's body, necessitating that the two learn to act as one. With "Freaks No Geeks," it's the 1930s and Marge is a trapeze artist and Homer's the strongman in a traveling circus, where sideshow freak Moe puts the moves on Marge.

Season 25, Episode 2

I notice these have been airing either in three weeks before Halloween or a week after nowadays. Why has that been the case the past few years?

Before that they aired after baseball - that wasn't ideal. I guess this is the best possible way.

The opening was fantastic. The whole episode was good. I fell out of the habit of watching the Halloween specials around 2002 or so, it seemed they were becoming less "Halloween"-like and more just random weirdness. I like all the storys has a definete spooky/Halloweeney looks and feel to them. The whole episode was really good, one of the better ones I've seen in years.

Fox doesn't have all of the early round games anymore, they used to wait until November to start the seasons for most of their shows.

Agreed on the opening. That was fantastic. Sadly, for me, it was the best part of the episode. It wasn't bad, per se.. But it wasn't as good as some of the Treehouse episodes of the past.

Spoiler:
Though the little How I Met Your Mother gag at the end was pretty funny.

It's on Hulu+ for computer streaming only and I can't remember if it's on regular Hulu or not.

Laughed quite a bit. Beautiful sepia tone color palette for the final segment tonight.

Great episode. People always underrate the current seasons saying they weren't as good. And that's been going on for over 20 years.

Got to give them credit for having the Halloween episode BEFORE Halloween. usually it's way late, which makes no sense.

I've always pretty much liked the show even if it's not perfect. I've said it before but I think it went through a bit of a slump around seasons fifteen until around nineteen or so. I know some people will disagree and say it got worse before then but that's when I thought it was at it's worst personally. To me it's gotten good again from seasons twenty onward though for the most part.

I enjoyed tonight's episode for the most part. The Cat in the Hat spoof was kind of funny. Also liked the last segment. The one with Bart's head attached to Lisa was kind of so-so but not terrible. The opening by Guillermo Del Toro was pretty cool and I also enjoyed the How I Met Your Mother joke at the end of the last segment.

Re: The Simpsons- Treehouse of Horror XXIV- 10/6/2013

Yeah I have to say this was one of the better Treehouses of the last couple years.

I wasn't sold on the Cat in the Hat parody until I realized that it was a Dr. Seuss play on the Grimm Fairy Tales. But I liked the style and the rhyming so overall I would give it a B.

The second segment just didn't do anything for me and was only so/so. I liked the original description of Homer going crazy after Bart it decapitated. C-

The last episode was by far the best. Loved the color they used, and the story was actually pretty dark. Plus I loved the final joke that caught me off guard. A

Overall I'd give this a B+. Like I said I think it's one of the best tree house episodes in years.

one of the best openings!

Tons of stuff to pause and look at.

I liked the cat in the hat parody the best.

Wow. Some of The Simpsons openings are more punchy and awesome than the episodes. The last epic one had the Simpsons merchandise being manufactured, and the Korean slave animators.

Any HYPNOTOAD!

This was the best Halloween special since season 9 or 10. It had possibly the best Halloween opening we've ever seen and the first story parodying Dr. Seuss was inspired.

I loved how two sets of creatures from the Futurama series wound up in this episode.

that is one of the greatest one, it was directed by Banksy. So maybe the guess directors are inspired for the opening. this one had so much stuff on it.
