Junior attorney Kimmie Boubier (Rebel Wilson) and her two best friends, Helen-Alice (Liza Lapira) and Marika (Lauren Ash), have had a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years. They even have a motto for what they call "Friday Night Fun Night": "Always together! Always Inside!" However Kimmie's recent promotion throws a monkey wrench into the tradition. Not only is she now working with her idol, "Lady Lawyer of the Year" Felicity Vanderstone (Kelen Coleman), but she meets a dashingly handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (Kevin Bishop), who invites her to his party at a trendy club. Determined to spend time with Richard and heed Felicity's advice to network, Kimmie sets out to convince her friends to take Super Fun Night on the road. "Super Fun Night" stars Rebel Wilson ("Pitch Perfect," "Bridesmaids") as Kimmie, Lauren Ash ("Lars and the Real Girl") as Marika, Liza Lapira ("Don't Trust the B - in Apartment 23") as Helen-Alice, Kelen Coleman ("The Newsroom") as Felicity and Kevin Bishop ("Star Stories") as Richard. "Super Fun Night" was written by Rebel Wilson who also serves as co-executive producer. Executive producers are Conan O'Brien, Jeff Ross, David Kissinger and John Riggi ("30 Rock"), who also directed the pilot. "Super Fun Night" is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Conaco and Warner Bros. Television.

I really enjoy Rebel's whole schtick, so I'm looking forward to this. I'm hoping it scratches that same itch that New Girl does. I need some lighter stuff in my diet, as it seems like every show I'm really into is all about horrible people doing horrible things.

This show is so bad they are skipping the first episode (the one that has the previews playing non-stop on ABC) and going right for episode 2.
This looks to be one of the worst shows this year. Hopefully it'll be pulled by November and ABC can bring back Suburgatory.

More shows would benefit from starting on episode 2 or 3. There are a lot of lousy pilots that get aired, lose audience, and never recover despite growing into excellent programs.
I thought Suburgatory was a Thursday night show?

Nevermind, I was thinking NBC for some reason, I forgot ABC's comedy block was on Wednesday. ABC does have a pretty full schedule, I still can't believe The Neighbors made it back.

She looks like Chris Farley in drag. I think I'll pass on another fat person doing jokes based on their weight. Did anyone actually watch this?

It's definitely better than Mike and Molly, but a bit contrived. It seemed like a pilot and I too have a fear of shark tornados.
But much like Mike and Molly, you have a lead that made a name for themselves in movies, and made a show about them that takes away everything that made them popular in the movies.

Critics pan Rebel Wilson's new comedy Super Fun Night, Aussie funny woman defends 'fat jokes'
Even before its premiere, US television critics have panned the pilot for her new comedy, Super Fun Night, saying it falls "wide of the mark" and is "rarely outright funny."
"Super fright night is more like it. This show is so painful and cringe-inducing that it's scary," one critic even wrote.
But in true Rebel form, the Aussie actress has bounced back from the criticism, insisting she has a licence to doll out 'fat jokes'.
"As long as I look like this I'm going to make fat jokes," she told Hunger magazine.
"All comedians have to use their physicality, so I use my size."
Earlier this year the 27-year-old was called out by Forbes magazine who accused her of overusing "fat women can be funny' jokes while hosting the MTV Movie Awards.
But despite receiving negative comments about her figure, the Pitch Perfect star hopes her look will inspire larger women to feel comfortable in their own skin.
"Before, it was all glamorous types like Kate Hudson who served as, like, the female equivalent of a 'straight man'. Now it's turning, and it's really good," she said.
Wilson is gearing up to debut Super Fun Night on October 2, in which she plays a socially inept single woman who sets aside Friday nights to stay at home and hang with her pyjama-clad besties.

She argues that she wanted her character Kimmie to wear unflattering clothing.
"In the pilot, I was deliberately wearing a very tight white dress with horrible crisscross black stripes that is way too short, and I'm holding a clutch purse that is so tiny that it accentuates my size," she told vulture.com.
"The women from wardrobe are lovely, but they don't get that I want to dress as Kimmie, and Kimmie does not have the best taste. The girls in the show are at the bottom of the social pole, and it's hard to communicate that to the network. It's important they understand that comedy is not about looking good."
Wilson had her breakthrough role in 2011 comedy Bridesmaids playing the sister of British comedian Matt Lucas. Since then she has gone on to star in other comedies such as Pitch Perfect, in which her character was referred to as 'Fat Amy'.

That was a bland pilot (or 2nd episode?) Not feeling the supporting players but always too early to call with new shows.
I looved Rebel as Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect so I'll give this one a couple more chances.

I thought it was odd that they just started as if we were supposed to know who everyone was. I assumed I had missed the first episode. I thought it was just okay.
