Just watched it and didn't have the same appeal as last season. Seems like no one on these boards really cared either.

I liked the episode, actually. I was surprised with them making Mycroft a restaurant owner rather than a government agent but I liked the interactions with Sherlock nonetheless.

re: Elementary (CBS) -- Season 2 Thread -- 9/26/13

I liked it, and don't really understand the disappointment that some people are voicing. I liked how Mycroft was reinterpreted (making him a government agent yet again would have been a mistake) and I liked how Lestrade was written as if this is all taking place years after the classic Doyle stories.

Looking forward to them following up on Moriarty, although the sadistic bastards will probably make us wait until the very end of Season 2 for that.

Re: Elementary -- "Solve For X" -- 10/03/13

I kept trying to remember who Lynn Collins was, so I looked her up. Sounded like one of the girls from Charlie's Angels. Nope. It's What's-Her-Face from X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Dejah Thoris from John Carter. Should be interesting.

Too bad I can never catch these on broadcast TV anymore. I've been getting them on the CBS website whenever I find the time. Thankfully their site works pretty well.

No surprise they get the math somewhat wrong. Proving P=NP is not as strong a statement as they imply.

Re: Elementary -- "Solve For X" -- 10/03/13

Another good but unremarkable episode. It feels wrong to complain about a show for being good instead of great, but the more I watch it, the more I feel like they should be making 12 episodes per season instead of 24. Maybe if they focused their efforts on half the episodes... I don't know.

Nitpicks:

1. One of my problems with Season 1 isn't being avoided: must every single case be littered with corpses? One of the coolest things about Doyle's stories is that not every case involves a murder or even a crime. When are people going to start coming to Holmes with private cases, and not just the homicide squad?

2. Joan's friend is a brat, but I'm surprised we're expected to sympathize with her for trying to force him into something he doesn't want to do, especially after all that crap in Season 1 with Joan's mom being dissatisfied with her career choice. Makes her look not only smug and arrogant but a hypocrite as well.

I'm satisfied (if not blown away) for now, but here's hoping they start branching out a bit this season.

This one turned out to be more of a mystery than usual, filling in some important background on Sherlock's teen years. For a minute I thought Sherlock might actually get some romance.

Interesting how Sherlock was comparing a marriage to partnership. He also claimed to solve Joan's case to clear his mind, but I read some jealousy into it with that police detective making a move on Joan.

You think? I didn't see him watching them. Did I miss that? I actually got the sense that he must really trust Watson as he handed over his cold cases to him. Also very interesting to see that he had so many.

Sherlock was jealous/being protective that Joan was receiving attention from the handsome police detective. He wasn't jealous that the detective went to Joan for a case.
