Not many people like the High School stuff because the new characters were all new versions of old characters and they were boring.
I wish Sue had gotten payback.

Didn't really like the new numbers except the Rachel-Santana one, but I liked the acoustic Loser Like Me, and the nostalgia of Don't Stop Believing. It brought back memories of when the show was fresh and exciting.

And Glee goes out with a whimper....sad.

This was a lame sendoff of the core storyline and a waste of 'Oscar-winner' Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristen Chenoweth. Was this the best they could do to write out half the cast?

Sue Sylvester's whole storyline becoming the principal was like a bad dream and was a mistake that should have been corrected. Santana's sudden change or heart after a lesbian tryst was a total farce. Why did we just waste half of this season watching her and Rachel's faux drama only to have it blown away with one stupid scene with Britney?

The whole will Glee club survive or won't it didn't even matter because nearly everyone still watching wanted to see it go down in flames and end. (Oh please let us see a new show with Wil coaching Vocal Adrenaline!)

Even the show's Journey theme song of 'Don't Stop Believin' sounded off key and missing something and I could only conclude that Finn's voice actually did bring something special to it. They should have ended the show after he died.

I enjoy the NYC stuff too but can't imagine these writers know what to do with 30 more episodes of it. I'm sure they are searching through a RENT script as we speak....

Re: Glee (Fox) -- Season 5 Thread

30 episodes? They will be lucky if Fox doesn't cut the order. The ratings are incredibly low right now and it makes the Drew Carey 3 Season renewal a decade ago seem like a good deal.

I actually liked this 'finale', but I'm one of the few who liked the new cast. This episode made me realize that, for me, this show was always about Will leading a band of misfits to success.

I suppose I'll watch a few more NY ones just to see if things change with a better depth of characters to work with... maybe with the high school over they can focus on writing better story arcs for the NY characters.

Agreed - the show is still quirky, weird and as uneven as it's been since the beginning (and it has been that way all along) but at the core it's about a group of kids who are friends and sing together. That'll always go a long way with me and I'm looking forward to a clean break with the school and hopefully strong stuff in NYC.

Yes, I also am looking forward to saying goodbye to WMHS, and just focusing on the original cast in NYC. Here's hoping they come up with some strong story lines for the end of this season and next. Just wondering, now Tina has been accepted to Brown, how her character will work out?

My wife and I still watch the show, even though it's been more or less running on the fumes of it's former greatness. She thought that the last two episodes were the best it's been in awhile, but that the last one was, and should have been, a good ending for the series. I'll keep watching for now, but I can only hope that focusing on just NYC in the future will make the show better. Not sure if that's possible, though.

I had no issue with the new cast, though. I think the problem was that for most of this season, they got pushed too much to the back burner.

I agree with your wife, in the last two episodes were definetely the strongest the show has been in a long, long time. It felt great to see the original cast together again. I never really took an interest in the new members, with the exception of Joe (the religious guy). Felt the show first went off the rails when the writers had Kitty trying to turn Marley into an anorexic. Those shows really turned my stomach...

So was the graduation episode the final episode of the season?

- It would be great to see Mr Shue coaching vocal adrenaline, but don't want any more split story lines

- I was expecting this huge Sue as Principal to pay off (or see her go back to being a gym teacher): nothing

- Smell you later GLEE

Stopped watching when they introduced the male version of Mercedes. I swear I'm not a homophobe, but that was too much for me.

It felt like it, but there'll be a few more episodes set in NYC.

I'm still watching, but Unique is too much for me as well. And dude, you were watching Glee--no way you're a homophobe. ;)

Same. I actually liked Marley and Jake quite a bit, but they were really given nothing for the majority of this season. I was really disappointed with that, to be honest.

Yeah, you can almost see the point where they decided they were dropping the Lima stuff... the New Directions stories went from showcasing the newbies to suddenly focusing almost exclusively on old guard characters like Blaine/Tina/Artie/Sam. And frankly, Tina has probably my least favorite character on the show for awhile now.

I'm curious if Cory Monteith's death had something to do with this. I know the original plan seemed to be Finn anchoring the Lima side with Rachel doing the NY thing.

So this is the 'New' Glee? Are we really never going to never see Mr. Scheu, Sue and Becky and Jake and Marley and the rest of the cast?

I love the storylines in this ep about the newbies out on their own in the big city discovering what's like. It seems fun and fresh even tho we've already had a year of it with the original New York crew.

This whole episode was actually a breath of fresh air right up until the preview for the rest of this season which shows someone who I presume to be Kurt

Spoiler:
getting gay bashed. ARGHHHHHHHH!
Do we really have to follow EVERY cliche about gay characters through the life of this one person? I understand the Kurt character is supposedly Ryan Murphy's stand-in for himself and represent his own struggles but honestly this just seems so overdone at this point.

Why does Sam get to avoid the cliches with his model/future gay porn star character becoming a pill popping anorexic?

Interesting episode of the "new" show--packed with music. Angst too, but not too bad.

I liked Marley but she should have sung more. After her initial splash, she became mostly a dramatic character for whatever reason.

She did get really annoying.

Of those names, I'd like to see Schu and Marley, but that's about it. The others were mostly annoying, including mini-Puck and mini-Quinn. Jake was not too bad, I guess.

Well there were lots of songs - so it was easy to fast forward through the dry parts and just watch the musical parts and get an idea of what is going on.

It is funny how everyone is just 19 (1 year out of highschool) and lives in these huge beautiful apartments in NYC and Brooklyn. I looked at that place Mercedes moved into and was like.. that must sell for over $2 million !!

Really enjoyed the full time switch to NYC. The show hooked me in right from the start, where Rachael is on 44th, next to the St. James theater, and across from The Majestic. Just loving all the landmark places they are filming around. Seems Glee has finally found it's way again!

Becky needs her own show. That sassy little retarded gal is comedy gold.

Re: Glee (Fox) -- Season 5 Thread

I thought the highlight of the episode was the song "Best Day Of My Life", performed around Times Square. Reminded me somewhat of the season 2 finale, which in my opinion, was the best Glee show ever made.

Earlier this week, I finally got caught up. The first 3 NY eps were better than I was expecting.

According to something I just read, I guess the final season will involve a lot of the McKinley cast that was abandoned with this jump to New York. I kinda wish they'd make up their minds here.

ugh, really? Please...drop the WMHS story line once and for all. The show has finally become good, after many pain inducing season 4 and 5 clunkers...and now we are going to switch back to Ohio again?

This doesn't sound like heavy involvement to me--sounds like cameos.

TVLINE | What happens to the new kids we met at McKinley [like Marley, Kitty, Unique, etc.]?
At some point before the show is concluded, we will definitely catch up with those characters again. We really loved all of those actors, and they did a great service to the show. So I think at some point, before we’re done, we’ll see many of them again and find out where they are and check in with them and see how being a part of that glee club legacy affected their lives, as we do with our original characters.
