Criminal Minds (Moving to Paramount +)

"Extreme Aggressor"
Spoiler:
When a fourth woman goes missing in Seattle in as many months, the team must profile her captor and find him before he strikes again.

This moves to it's regular time of Wednesday at 9/8C next week

Quake1028 09-22-05 02:42 AM

I'm going to give it a shot because it's coming tomorrow, but it's going to have to be amazing to drop Head Cases, which I have really taken a liking to. Lost and E-Ring are untouchables at this point.

Deftones 09-22-05 12:53 PM

Of all the shows that are new, this intrigues me the most. Makes me mad they cancelled Dead Like Me. I'll watch just about anything with Mandy Patinkin.

Never heard of her but I'll check this out anyway.

Geofferson 09-22-05 02:26 PM

I'll probably tune in as well.

It appears you no longer have to worry about Head Cases:

I'll give this show one more chance, and then only because of Mandy Patinkin. But quite frankly, I'm incredibly sick of crime dramas, and this show is just barely average in my opinion. Barring a sensational episode next week, I don't foresee A. Watching this show or B. It lasting up against Lost.

LorenzoL 09-23-05 06:01 AM

I liked the episode especially the ending.

This show has promise and I'll continue watching it.

Was the pregnant wife of the Thomas Gibson's character, the girl from Dawson's Creek? I think she played Pacey's friend/girlfriend that had mental health issues during the first few seasons.

Too bad is moving to its original timeslot of Wednesday at 9:00 pm. I already have season pass for Lost and Veronica Mars at that time. I'll check to see if I can record this show during timeshifting.

dadaluholla 09-23-05 07:44 AM

BLAH. I gave it a shot but I don't think I ever would want to see it again (and with its timeslot I never will). This was just another generic "special unit" crime/police show with nothing interesting going for it.

fnordboy 09-23-05 10:11 AM

Watching it I thought it was nothing special. My girlfriend and I were sitting there saying well if they do something really interesting at the very end maybe we will chekc it out next week... literally right after the words came out of my mouth the ending happened. Guess I will check it out next week.

Otherwise this is the type of show to pick up on DVD and just marathon. Interesting enough to watch, but not interesting enough to wait week after week for it. And the timeslot sucks for it.

movieking 09-23-05 11:25 AM

I have a strong dislike of Mandy Patinkin, so I was thinking that I would pass (the reviews have not been great either), but I'll check out the first episode anyway. From talking to a few people, they weren't that impressed with it.

same feeling I got from the show.. I wanted to like it but at least in the first ep I did not see anything different at all.. Well sep for that one CGI move of them pointing to a picture on the way and the camera, with zero blur shot into the picture and to the location.. Most times you have this little fad away but in this case the picture and the location lined up perfect..

I think they had him green screen on that first walk up, then they cut away and back to filming at the location.. Pretty neat effect..

other then that we just got nothing but overkill on the profile stuff.. Sure, CSI has a TON of BS too but at least it's interesting BS with strange out there set ups and so on. Sure we know lab work is not really done with 12+ plasma screen all over but it's still interesting.. Criminal Minds had someone glance at a "Go" game board and say "Oh he is extreme aggressor".. Yaaaaaaaaawwwwwnnnnnnnnnn.... Lets guess his pass word!? Yawwwn.. etc etc..

would not really care if I saw another ep or not.. The Inside was better then this show and that only lasted a few eps too..

Quake1028 09-23-05 01:12 PM

Was the stuttering guy at the end the same person who played the young computer guy (Chloe's friend) last year on 24?

Daniel-A 09-23-05 01:32 PM

I actually liked this premier better than any of the other law/crime ones so far this season. I'll probably stay tuned in if I can find a way to.

Yup. That's Lukas Haas, the little boy in Witness.

silentbob007 09-24-05 01:02 AM

I don't really watch crime dramas because ... well ... I figured they would strike me like this show did ... as a mediocre TV show trying to capture Silence of the Lambs with no on-screen violence or swearing. Mandy is the only reason I'd keep watching this show, just to see if he calls anyone "peanut" .... ;)

MrX 09-24-05 02:53 AM

Stupid CBS gave the last scene away in commercials for the show-ohbfrank-

I liked it though of the reasoning behind stuff was out there.

ChrisHicks 09-24-05 02:34 PM

ok, I just got done watching this and now I'm wondering something - does anyone think that if Millennium had come out recently instead of way back when that it might have lasted longer?

Patman 09-24-05 10:04 PM

15 years ago, Silence of the Lambs was a R-rated thriller, now, you see the same kind of story on episodic TV with much of violence intact, have we come a long way or not?

Having a genius on-board gives the writers such a short cut to get from plot nugget A to plot turn B. If they over-use the genius, it'll get too cutesy for me.

Mandy was good, Shemar was too casual, Thomas was staid and boring, but his TV wife shows that there is life after Dawson's Creek (Meredith Monroe), Lola's character might have come across a little too strident and over-anxious.

Wasn't the stutterer Lukas Haas (the boy from "Witness")?

Wow I didn't even notice Andy Mcfee. Will have to pay more attention next time. And as for life after DC, what about Katie Holmes?

Patman 09-24-05 11:34 PM

Katie was the star of DC, I didn't really count her, mainly talking about the extended friends. The other one that I see on a semi-regular basis on TV is Kerr Smith (Jack).

TheEdge21 12-12-05 07:18 PM

Is Criminal Minds good?

I didn't find anything when I searched for it, but I just wanted to see if anyone had an opinion abot criminal minds?

Deftones 12-12-05 07:30 PM

Yes. I like it. I'm a fan of Mandy Patinkin, so I enjoy the show. It's more than just a show like Law and Order where they follow the evidence to find the criminal. In this, there's alot of profiling and psychology used.

I agree completely. I think this is the best new drama this season.

LorenzoL 12-12-05 09:10 PM

I also enjoy the show. I especially like the Mandy Patinkin character along with the young "genius" character. I think his name is Dr. Reid on the show.

MrX 12-12-05 09:29 PM

I like it as well.

mookiemeister 12-12-05 10:29 PM

I've seen an episode here and there when there is no conflict with Lost. I like the show. I'll probably catch more of it when Lost and Veronica Mars is in rerun.

Quake1028 12-13-05 01:35 AM

I've seen every episode, and I love it. It's one of my favorite shows. It sure got a lot better after the pilot episode.

dgmayor 12-13-05 07:13 AM

Also one of my favorite new shows of the season. I really enjoy all the characters and like way they all play off each other.

TheEdge21 12-13-05 05:19 PM

thanks for the feed back guys.. now I need a tivo or something :)

MrX 12-14-05 04:58 PM

Criminal Minds - "Blood Hungry" - 12/14

"Blood Hungry"
Spoiler:
Hotchner and his team attempt to get inside the mind of a psychotic killer whose fantasies lead him to murder.

Figured I would start a thread for the new episode tonight since it appears a few people watch it.

Lost and Veronica Mars are repeats tonight so hopefully more people will tune in. You can pretty much jump right in if you haven't seen it before.

Deftones 12-15-05 09:01 AM

Good, but it wasn't as good as when Gideon is in the field w/ the team.

Phil L. 12-15-05 11:07 AM

I guess I wasn't paying attention but why was Gideon insisting on using Garcia's office to do all his research?

In this episode I also appreciated how despite this taking place in the deep south, they did not portray the local sherrif and his officers as being bumbling, back woods, corrupt, inept, and uncooperative as is the standard practice in crime shows whenever the feds or a northeast area law enforcement team is involved. That is an overused gimmick.

MrX 12-15-05 11:07 AM

I agree. Not a good episode to air if you are trying to draw in a new audience with everything else in repeats.
