Has this show gotten any less morbid in the cases? Used to be a big fan but stopped watched 2 seasons back.

I'm curious to see how they introduce Matt Simmons (Henney)
When Beyond Borders season ended last year, it basically wrapped with no loose ends. So I guess it would make sense for his character to put in for a transfer to the BAU. I recall one of the issues his character had was being away from home so much away from his family.
Since Damon Gupton is off the show, I guess Walker is being killed off screen based on that big accident from last season's finale.

I wonder if they take down Scratch or if he still lingers out there for part/all of the season.

Well, thank God the Mr. Scratch arc is finally wrapped.
It was a little weird how Garcia brought in Simmons out of the blue to help out after the accident.
Scratch's torture of Prentiss was pretty wild. She did get up pretty fast and managed to walk well for someone with metal rods planted into his legs.
Poor random unnamed black actor dressed up as dead Stephen Walker in the car and morgue. I hope he got paid decently.
Since Prentiss said the team is on leave, I guess next week they'll jump ahead in time a little.

Renewed for a 10 episode 15th and final season
I normally binge the show after it records several weeks, so I don't talk about it much here. This thread has been dead for almost 2 years. I know procedurals like this don't attract any discussion. And probably many here who used to watch don't keep up with it anymore. But, I'm glad it's getting a final chapter. It's one of those weekly old and reliable shows you can watch and enjoy. I've seen every episode since the Pilot back in 2005. I'm not one of those "No Hotch, No Watch" people who bailed 2 years ago after Gibson got canned.
Article says they are going to film those 10 episodes now. The cast is basically going to keep working like a normal TV season. The current season will end after 15 episodes.

Sounds like the final season will be more serialized:
As for the 10-episode 15th season, it will be more serialized than the procedural drama is known for, including a two-part season opener, and will feature a major confession and a BAU member in jeopardy. The biggest through-line of the final 10 will revolve around “a very worthy adversary for the team, especially for David Rossi,” Messer said of the “unsub”, who will be introduced later this season. “Will be up against another formidable villain and will be concluding the 10 episodes with a showdown with that person,” she added.
Since it’s the final season, there will likely be memorable bad guys from the past 14 seasons making an appearance. “We have one in the works right now who’s a very memorable villain, but I don’t want to say too much if it doesn’t work out with casting,” Messer teased.

Caught the series finale and as a fan of the series, pretty mediocre and rather uneven, a bit odd having one story about Reid getting a concussion and revisited by ghosts of the past and then the other with Everett storyline. Seemed like they rushed things and then having the very end being focused on Penelope was off-putting, mostly because knowing the actress, Kristen Vangsness, co-wrote the episode. Rather lame for a show wrapping up 15 seasons. Still enjoy the show but the finale, and the final season overall, was easily the worst with only a few bright spots.

I've been doing a rewatch from the beginning.
The first season or so, seems like it is the "Jason Gideon show". (Except a few episodes, such as "derailed" s1ep9).
Wonder if the producers originally intended for Mandy Patinkin to carry the show.

Later seasons seem to be more of an "ensemble" effort, and not just centered on one or two characters leading the show.

About 3 months late, but I also finished the last 2 episodes (series finale)
I have similar thoughts to The Movie Man. It felt rushed and clumsily put together. I know they shot season 14 and 15 back to back, so it seemed like they ran out of compelling ideas to go out on a high note. I was also disappointed that the ending revolved so much around Garcia since she was really the only member of the team leaving. It would have been more interesting to see Rossi go off into retirement and maybe leave for a trip with his wife and finish things off as a memoir.
Kind of a disappointing series finale for something that was on the air for as long as it was. I know it wasn't possible to bring back Gibson due to his circumstances or Moore since he's on another show. Despite it being disappointing, it's still one of my favorite CBS procedurals of all-time.

Revived by Paramount Plus.
The original showrunner is expected to return, but unknown if the cast will come back.

Criminal Minds is indeed coming back to Paramount plus. It will be a serialized 10 episode season and they are going to be in talks with the cast about returning.

Wonder if the revival will be similar to CSI, maybe a couple of the old cast with a mostly new set of actors. I can see someone like Joe Mategna being a bureau chief, making a few appearances throughout the season but not on the road with the team.

Still in the works at Paramount +. Not dead as previously speculated. They said the delay had to do with the executive changes at Paramount +
I have a feeling whenever this does get off the ground, it won't premiere until 2023 at the earliest.

Read recently that Criminal Minds was like #3 for streaming minutes on Netflix over a billion hours streamed. That is fucking nuts that Tik Tok kept the show so popular. Paramount better strike fast because people will probably forget about this show in a year or two.

I stopped watching Criminal Minds in season 9, when I lost my appetite for procedurals, but the show had some really great storylines over the years. Bringing all those shows back, seems a bit desperate to me, but streamers need content.
