Re: Criminal Minds -- Season Premiere -- "It Takes a Village" -- 9/21/11

So good to have the original team back.

It was a pretty good return. Prentiss and JJ looked great.

I got the impression that JJ got promoted. It was good to see her out in action in the field holding a gun rather than being a boring Press Liaison.

Did anyone think Thomas Gibson looked really thin? I liked the scruff and was disappointed that he shaved it off. at Rossi saying it was a good look.

I'm glad they didn't sugar coat Prentiss' return. It was good to see Morgan and even Reid have some anger/frustration about it, especially Morgan since he grew really close to Prentiss during the whole Doyle ordeal.

If I had to criticize anything the resolution to the whole Doyle arc ended so abruptly. For a badass killer/terrorist, he just went out on a thud.

Looking forward to a great season. It will be interesting to see how the BAU functions this season being watched closely for their actions.

I thought he looked really gaunt. I was wondering if the beard and being assigned to rough duty in Pakistan was trying to give a reason for his thinness. But then he shaved it off...

Looks like next week we are back to the psycho serial killer of the week

I know he re-signed with the show barely 2 weeks before they started production, so that was probably his offseason look and they told him to keep it and wrote it in....

Great premiere numbers last night. 14.1M viewers and 4.1 in the demos.

IDK, something about the premiere felt off, even clunky in its presentation. I think they had to come up with a way to get Prentiss back and wrap up the Doyle storyline (since he was the reason she had to fake her death in the first place).

Of course, the whole thing could've been avoided if the producers didn't get rid of her in the first place...

I do agree that I like that Reid and, especially, Morgan aren't going to exactly embrace her back yet at the same time it won't take up the psycho-of-the-week storylines (which I enjoy).

Re: Criminal Minds -- "Proof" -- 9/28/11

Now this was a pretty damn good and even scary episode.

The psycho of the week was pretty fucking nuts. It was almost like watching a torture porn horror movie in some points. I couldn't believe at the end the father wanted to see his daughter get tortured on the video tape.

I really liked the scenes with JJ and Reid and his grudge against her. In some instances it almost looked like JJ was ready to cry.

the last scene with Rossi's cooking lesson was a nice way to end it. I love how close this team is.

Agreed. When the unsub switched from retard to torture sadist it was downright creepy. Excellent start to the season

Everyone thought that Morgan would have the hardest time dealing with Emily's deception, but he's making jokes with her about having to carry her coffin. Reid really was a good choice to have a problem, since normal and intense human emotions are slightly alien to him.

Solid episode and great psycho-of-the-week as well. The producers made a big mistake trying to cut down on costs but at least that's been rectified for what could shape up to be another good season...

A funny thing to mention. Max Martini was also on Revenge on ABC the same night. He also guest starred on Castle a few times last season and the premiere. He's the only former cast member of The Unit getting alot of work.

Martini was a good psychopath. That goatee was pretty bad though. I actually thought it was sad when his character murdered his parents with the machine gun.

Re: Criminal Minds -- "Painless" -- 10/12/11

Really good episode. The plot had some similarity to the Colombine tragedy. The twist at the end was a little surprising that the killer was actually a victim from the original incident and that blonde hair guy stole his story.

Loved Morgan and Reid's little practical jokes. Liked Morgan giving out Reid's number to the press and pretending to be him.

at Reid interupting Morgan's music and phone call at the end with his screaming. Good stuff there.

This cast has such good chemistry.

Yeah, solid episode. As much as I like NCIS, I think Criminal Minds has supplanted it as my favorite crime drama.

Criminal Minds -- Season 7 Thread -- Wednesdays (CBS)

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
By djariya at 2011-09-20

I only occasionally do Criminal Minds threads since there isn't alot to talk about week to week, but some disappointing news to report from a couple of days ago.

http://www.deadline.com/2012/02/page...ing-cbs-drama/

Paget Brewster (Prentiss) is leaving the show again. She's leaving on her own terms this time since her contract is up and apparently she wants to do a comedy series.

EXCLUSIVE: Emily Prentiss is turning in her badge. Criminal Minds co-star Paget Brewster will leave the hit CBS drama series at the end of this season. Brewster had been itching to do something else for awhile. Last year, she used a provision in her modified deal for Criminal Minds that allowed her to shoot a pilot and did NBC’s comedy My Life as an Experiment. Had the pilot gone to series, Brewster would’ve left the CBS drama for it but when it didn’t, Criminal Minds producer ABC Studios had an option to bring her back and exercised it. I hear that Brewster, whose contract is up in May, wanted to do a half-hour pilot again this year but didn’t get the blessing of CBS and ABC Studios who tried to keep her on the show with an offer for a new deal. (While not officially renewed, Criminal Minds, a strong ratings performer, is guaranteed to return next season.) Brewster opted to leave. “After six wonderful years playing Emily Prentiss, I have decided it’s time for me to move on,” she said in a statement to Deadline. “As much as I will miss my Criminal Minds family, I am excited about the future and other opportunities.” Brewster notified the producers and the cast of Criminal Minds of her decision yesterday. “We were all sad to hear the news, but we respect and support any decision Paget wants to make,” the series’ executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer told Deadline. “Personally, I’m a huge fan and will continue to be one wherever she goes.” Before Criminal Minds, which Brewster joined early in the second season, she did a slew of comedy series, starting with her memorable arc on Friends.

Brewster’s departure caps a roller-coaster last 2 years for her on the show. In the summer of 2010, she was asked to continue on Criminal Minds in a reduced capacity while her friend and co-star A.J. Cook was let go. Brewster ended up being in every episode until she left to do a pilot last season, and Cook eventually returned to the show full-time. Because of the uncertainty surrounding her NBC pilot at the time Brewster’s last episode on Criminal Minds‘ sixth season was filmed, Brewster shot a cliff-hanger ending for her character. When the pilot didn’t get picked up, she was enlisted for the current sevenths season of Criminal Minds, something Brewster recently told TV Guide she was surprised by. “They said, ‘You’re back!’ I had another year on my contract that I didn’t know about, so I had to come back! I said, ‘Hey, I kinda want an apology and maybe a raise.’ And they were like, ‘No, we’ll sue you!’” Brewster said with a laugh. “The whole thing was, unfortunately, a mess. It was dumb. They thought they would save money by getting rid of us … and in the end got both of us back.” While Brewster is leaving, most oher Criminal Minds co-stars, including Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna, Shemar Moore and Cook, have deals in place for next season. Matthew Gray Gubler is in the process of renegotiating his.

Been out of town the last few days and haven't watched Wednesdays episode yet. I've enjoyed having her back. At least they have time to write her out properly.

This will be the show thread for the rest of this season.

She was pretty funny on Andy Richter Controls the Universe, so I wouldn't mind seeing her in another comedy role.

My color was really off for this episode. Rossi and Reid looked orange.

Sad to see her go but like you said DJ, at least her departure should (key word) be properly handled. Wonder who they'll replace her with next season?

That post read my mind. She rocked in AR:CTU and if it's any indication of her taste in comedy that she signed up for that gig I'll be looking forward to what she has planned next.

Ballsy move as well twice leaving a successful series for a new pilot (esp after the first one didn't get picked up. Gotta respect balls on a chick like that.

I understand wanting to do something different, but I just don't get people who leave successful shows. Milk it until ends. You may never get another show like that.

I've never cared for her since her time on Huff so no sadness from me. I much preferred Lola Glaudini whose place she took.

The only thing I remember about her on Huff was the shot of her in the kitchen wearing just a t-shirt and her ass hanging out with the camera at ass level.
