They say "kitty" (the other word for it) on Chapelle's Show & South Park all the time, but that is cable

You're right, I don't for exactly this reason. Fictional TV and quick glances at cnn.com is all I can stomach these days.

Ok. Lemme try again.

Does USA repeat this? And, if so, when?

I thought it was pretty interesting. Much more predictable then normal but overall good.

It was a pretty week episode, but I like Dan Florek and it's nice to see someone other than Meloni and Haggarty taking the lead.

Ice-T and Belzer were sorely missed in this ep.

In a season of great episodes I thought this one was under par (and predictable). Still much better than most TV though.

Law and Order SVU 5/11

I'm watching it now. I can't believe she didn't object to the judge when he was badgering that little girl if for no other reason than to get it on the record

I was too busy tripping on the skirt comment! That episode really makes you wonder who is sitting on the bench. Good episode, I can't belive next week is the season finale.

Great episode indeed. I'm surprised there aren't weekly threads here for SVU. It's probably my favorite show on TV now.

Same here. I liked this episode a lot. That judge was really pissing me off. The female detective was just on Conan last night. She said she got engaged with a cast memeber. She said he's tall and German, is that the detective with the glasses and dark hair?

Yeah, she (Mariska Hargitay) is engaged to Peter Hermann... and he is Attorney Langen on the show.

For a second there I thought you were talking about Marlo Thomas ("Judge Mary" Kovak's mentor). She's married to Phil Donahue.

I think this was probably the best Law and Order episode I've ever seen. We've never seen anyone in any of the shows stick up like that to a judge, and then go after them. Casey's bullying of Judge Skerrit at the end was freaking awesome.

Didn't the original L&O do a similar sexist judge, even making the same, or extremely close, reference to proper dress in the courtroom?

Yes! One of my favorites - I.D. from the original where the Judge (played by the guy who plays Heche on The Sopranos) is basically a dirty old man hitting on Jamie Ross and asking about her sex life throughout the episode.

This was an excellent SVU. Tom Skerritt is one of my favorite actors.

I wonder if this will be a turning point for Novak. She's been a pretty annoying character since Cabot left, but that one scene where she built up the courage to ask Skerritt to recuse himself was fantastic.

Always great to see Cynthia Gibb getting work too. I've had a thing for her since Fame.

the reason for me is it is on at the same time as The Shield, unfortunetly SVU is my 2nd favorite show, to The Shield, so I sually only watch repeats on USA(which there 3 episdoes on this Sunday )

This was a good one. How can a series so good come from the same parent that produced the horrible CI?

I am watching season1-2 of SVU on the USA network, having never seen the earlier episodes. They must have done a major revamp of the show because season 1-2 has a decidedly different look and feel than the show now has.
Notwithstanding the (needed) cast changes, SVU delved into the personal lives of the dectectives (i.e. stabler's family life is shown). It is now much more a procedural show ... crossing over to the formulaic (i.e. red herrings, twist ending, etc) that matches the original L&O.

I still like both the original L&O and SVU but it is interesting to see how by conforming the SVU show to the "L&O Standard" (versus say Homicide: LOTS)
SVU did much better in ratings on Fridays and now on Tuesdays. Just comes to show for all the talk about originality or edgy, that network execs have to give the people what they want.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Dick Wolf once said that had he stuck the L&O moniker on Deadline, a show formerly on NBC starring Oliver Platt, that that show would have suceeded.

the shield repeats at 11 so the conflict isn't a big deal. I usually tape svu and watch the shield at 10 though
