Sleepy Hollow -- "Blood Moon" -- 9/23/13

Synopsis:

Still adjusting to his 21st century reality, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison) and Det. ABBIE MILLS (Nicole Beharie) move forward in their mission to unravel the mysteries lurking in Sleepy Hollow. A frightful vision from Ichabod's former wife, KATRINA (Katia Winter), sends the unlikely duo on the hunt for a vengeful witch from the 1700s who has been awoken by unknown evils and is on a path of destruction in the quaint town. Meanwhile, despite all odds, Officer ANDY BROOKS (John Cho) is back and on a questionable mission of his own in the all-new "Blood Moon" episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW airing Monday, Sept. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (SLH-102) (TV-14 L, V)

Cast: Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane; Nicole Beharie as Detective Abbie Mills; Orlando Jones as Captain Frank Irving; Katia Winter as Katrina Crane

Guest Cast: John Cho as Andy Brooks

Episode 2/13

Posting all these early as I don't return home Monday from work until well past their East coast air times. A lot of competition tonight.

Pleasantly surprised by this. Interesting start.

Did it maintain the momentum from the pilot? I probably won't get to this until later in the week.

Ken Olin did a great job directing this follow up to the pilot. There's a great sense of chemistry between the leads and it was nice to see Clancy Brown again. I was hoping he'd pop up in flashbacks and it seems his character might have even more influence on the plot than I'd dared to hope.

Does the lead remind anyone else of Tony Curran?

While I didn't get the Grimm vibe in the pilot episode, I definitely got it in this second episode. Didn't realize this was another "monster" of the week type show (thought the main focus would be on the headless horseman). But still a well-made show that I find entertaining.

Though I'm worried I'll run into similar storylines between Grimm and this show.

This is such a silly show, but it is fun to watch so far.

I really like this show. I thought the Chominator was pretty creepy, and hope he sticks around for awhile to continue to play henchman.

Re: Sleepy Hollow -- "Blood Moon" -- 9/23/13

I got an impression that Clancy Brown character wasn't just some small town sherrif who kept track of weird goings on as a hobby. He was in Sleepy Hollow intentionally and knows the complete lowdown of what's going on. He recruited the deputy specifically for this fight. Maybe he's some kind of guardian angel who can appear at will from time to time to offer assistance.
I thought he got took down a little to easy by the horseman, like he didn't really try, maybe he wanted to get offed by the horseman like Obi-Wan in Star Wars because now he can help in a bigger way. Just a vibe I got.

I like how they regularly try to establish a sense of place with all the aerial shots of Sleepy Hollow then immediately zoom in on something that makes it clear that this show is filmed in the South such as all the Spanish moss in the graveyard. Reminds of how The X-Files could never quite hide the fact that they were in Vancouver. Still digging the show itself though.

I like the series so far. Maybe I just missed it but how did they know the boy (or father) was the next target?

They thought the boy was the only other local descendant of the judge who originally ordered the witch burned.

Liked the 2nd episode as well, I think this will get a full season out of us. Definitely has that Grimm monster of the week, with underlying mythology through the season. Really like the interaction by the two leads. Nice seeing John Cho back.

Well he emptied his clip into him, not sure how much more he could have done.

Yeah that was fun. He really should switch to turtlenecks if he's going to be walking around like that!

It bugged me that no one noticed his body was missing or that he wandered off with a squad car ...

Looks like Sleepy Hollow is going to stick around:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/287...ostages-hollow
Earlier in the night, Fox's "Sleepy Hollow" dipped a bit for its second outing after its very strong debut last week. Yet, the show still managed a solid 8.6 million viewers and 3.1 rating, down only 11% despite the much stronger competition.

I was kind of hoping they'd start a trend of killing John Cho, and then the demon brings him back to life in the next episode.

His casting makes a lot more sense now. He was wasted in the pilot. He didn't have a ton of lines this week but at least it felt like he was earning his paycheck.

Pretty creepy images with the inverted John Cho and the burned witch. The lead guy coming from the past adds a nice dynamic as well.

So you want him to be this show's equivalent of this guy?

Cos that'd be awesome.
