Are you applying that logic to Honeyfund as well?

My wife and I got married two years ago, after living together for around 8 years. We already have every needed household item, and Honeyfund worked for us, because we wanted cash to use towards our honeymoon.

9/10 guests just ended up giving us cash, but Honeyfund was used and people generally liked it. People were going to give us gifts anyhow, so I don't see how using Honeyfund would be seen as panhandling.

Yeah if you've been together and have all the household stuff you desire, I can see Honeyfund being the way to go.

I think part of my issue is the low rent nature of the site. It just looks cheap. That perception is even worse seeing how these guys are doing pretty well with it. Invest some of that shit into a site that doesn't look like it's out of 1998.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

Funny seeing the Guitar Hero guys just tank. They had 4 offers on the table and just fucking blew it.

Not sure why the Sharks thought the weight vest guy was a jerk. Didn't seem any different than other people on the show. I'm with Cuban though, it seemed pretty fucking hokey, especially with all the ridiculous claims. That doesn't make him a jerk though, just someone trying to peddle his ware.

The belt lady seemed on the verge of tears the entire time. Not good with confrontation. She has a great product, someone else needs to be in charge though knocking on Wal-Mart and Target's doors. She just doesn't seem like she has the drive or even personality to take it up a notch.

Beard guy... this is an odd one. I see Laurie's point about a narrow market but as someone with a beard I was intrigued until he put up the $30 a bottle number for a measly couple of ounces. Holy shit. He just narrowed that tiny market even further. If he's really making a 90% profit on it, there's no reason he couldn't make that bottle a little bigger and the price more attractive.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

I think they were just piling on the weight vest guy. He was in full marketing mode and wasn't really answering any of their questions. His sales were extremely impressive so I'm not sure why they decided to pick on him.

I also thought they were crazy to knock the belt girl. She has a good product and needed the help. I'm glad she got a deal.

I'm wondering how much the Guitar Hero guys made off their deal with Activision. Their product was pretty cool for the price but I was really having a hard time figuring out why they wanted a shark. They either had a really bad experience in the past or they just wanted the exposure and had no intention of coming to a deal. I'm thinking the latter.

The beard thing is such a niche product that I can't really see how it would grow to something that would interest the sharks. This is another product that will benefit from being on the show.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

I personally thought the weight vest was brilliant. I have friends who buy those uncomfortable weight vests that shift all around and this looked like a top notch product to me. Market to the crazy Crossfit cult that is going on right now and it will clean up. Cuban was just being an ass for whatever reason. And I saw no reason for Mr. Wonderful to call the guy a douchebag to his face unless there was some seriously heavy editing going on there.

As a long time fan of this series I'm so glad to see how big it has gotten. Every episode has some pretty big and interesting deals. It's crazy how different the pitches are from season 1.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

I don't think the Guitar Hero guys really needed the Sharks and they knew it. They would almost certainly get better money from the VC world with their background. That felt like they were willing to do a small sliver of equity for more exposure.

Cuban often just jumps on certain products he dislikes. Going off the edit, the weight vest pitch got unnecessary criticism. He was basically looking for financing, he already had a proven product and market. It's pretty apparent by now that each Shark only feels comfortable dealing with a handful of industries, so a pitch is out of luck if their service/product is not in one of their fields.

OMG, I couldn't believe how the Sing Mix guys just tanked that with 4 offers. Daymond's offer was probably the best one. Some of these guys are pretty stingy with their equity and not looking at the value of having a partner like Daymond.

Robert telling the belt lady "You can't blame the economy" for not making money is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard coming out of his mouth. I'm with Damon on that one...even though she wasn't the "go getter" the sharks want to deal with, the fact that she still made roughly the same amount in the years the economy was in the tank is pretty impressive, considering a lot of the stores she was selling to closed shop.

That was my feeling as well. Pretty clear they were in there only for the exposure. They don't seem to really need the Sharks help anyway. It's a pretty cool product. I'm afraid to know how "talented" the future generations of pop stars will be with products like that around.

Is it possible for Shark Tank to jump the shark? Just not feeling this show lately; most of the products seem super lame. And the negotiations are dull and predictable.

I was surprised the grip lady took Robert of Damond. Sure, his deal was better, but kind of shit is in Damond's wheel house.

I liked the bottle breachers. I might order a couple as gifts.

That was a stunningly shortsighted decision by that woman to pick Robert over Daymond.

The bottle breachers were a cool novelty item, though I can't imagine it ever becoming a widely acceptable gift. I imagine the market for them is largely confined to the South.

Squatty potty! Stern talks about that fucking thing all the time. No surprise that Lori did a deal with them. That is QVC material all the way. Haha

The fiscal numbers shocked me, since I don't listen to Stern anymore. I still don't understand why the popcorn people got so many lucrative offers. That was a strangely cut segment, I am sure a major part of the discussion got clipped.

Re: Shark Tank (ABC) -- Series Thread Part II

The Squatty Potty guy was kind of a douche, especially with how he was nickel and diming the valuation. 5% investment is nothing. He was smart to change his mind go go with Lori. Total QVC item.

Liked the last segment with the Sharks talking among themselves and the recaps since this was episode 100. But, most of the new products in the episode were mostly forgettable. I was surprised that Lori invested in that non dairy cheese. I don't think I've ever seen her invest in food.

Looks like it was more about the people instead of the product.

Personally, I would have went went Robert over Barbara (who had a pretty meh offer).

Groovebook is an online company that sells subscriptions to make photo albums. I think they had some proprietary method to conform with USPS media mail. They made a deal with Kevin and Mark and they just got bought by Shuttlefly for 14.5 million dollars. I think we will see an update very soon.
