Re: New Girl -- "Nerd" -- 9/24/13

My wish is that Schmidt gets away with it. Characters in this situation always lie and cover up for an episode or three and they always get busted and there's an awkward moment and tears and realizations. We've seen it all before. I'm hoping for not-Cece to move away or something without Schmidt ever having to break up with her. He likes and cares for them both, it's not like he's just sleeping with them for fun. So let him be uncomfortable for a bit and then he gets Cece without breaking not-Cece's heart.

That was the great thing, he actually pulled it off, thought it was all going to collapse at the office.

I liked that Schmidt was genuinely surprised that he got away with it. I wonder how long they'll keep it up.

Winston and the cat was pretty great. Went back and paused to see the other weapons he had on the table, the girlfriend noticed ninja stars and he had a hatchet and crowbar too

Man... I feel bad for Lamore Morris. I wonder if he's miserable doing these stupid story lines.

I don't mind that there's these very minor story lines that are quirky, after all there are too many characters and only so much screen time available. I just find it odd that it's almost always the Winston character that gets stuck with them.

Not really thrilled with this arc. Didn't enjoy this ep. Poor Winston plays second fiddle to Cece who's just the plucky friend.

Re: New Girl - "Double Date" - 10/1/13

I thought Nick and Jess at the end throwing out random facts was pretty hilarious. Same with Nick dancing in the helmet. I feel bad for Winston, being the odd man out, but maybe Cece and Schmidt breaking up will balance that out a bit. Their break up was done pretty well.

I thought this was a funny episode. Remember last season when they tried to give Winston long storylines? They went nowhere and weren't funny. I like this sillier side of the character and it places less of a burden on the show's weakest comedian. Winston works better as someone like Kramer from Seinfeld, instead of being the "hip" friend.

I think Winston's stuff is the best. Everything else is way to standard romcom lazy writing.

I would have rather seen them do more with Winstons' chick that he met than get Jess and Nick together so fast.

The winston character is hamstrung by being the only minority on the show. It feels like he would be great as full on crazy, but they are reluctant to really committ

Just got caught up with the last 2 weeks. Schmidt got exactly what he deserved getting caught by CeCe and Elizabeth. Such a douche. I curious to see how this revenge plot plays out, but he had no one to blame but himself.

i liked CeCe and Schmidt and think it was too soon in the lifespan of series to have the emotional charge they wound up having. should've waited, but hopefully setting up a greater series finale...

Schmidt was one of my favourite characters but he has been awful this season - I really hope they get him back on track because making him the villain is stupid.

I thought this episode was really funny, clicking on all cylinders. But I definitely concur about Schmidt. Turning him into a mean-spirited villain for any long stretch will permanently damage the character.
