Cheers Viewing Club: Season 2. Exploratory topic.
Very basic topic. We had fun with season one. Not all of us finished, but we all had a good time with however many episodes we watched.
Who is interested in starting this up again sometime soon for season 2?

I really enjoyed doing the first season. I'd be up for another go at the 2nd one, though I usually follow the monthly challenges in my TV viewing. With that in mind, I'd prefer waiting until November when we have our comedy challenge. But if I'm in the minority and you want to start sooner, that's fine with me. I can always catch up and add comments later.

November is a good idea since the Horror challenge is coming soon. I also propose watching the Thanksgiving episode in late November, even though it's not season 2.

November is comedy month right? Yeah I can be down. I've been meaning to watch some episodes anyway. I'll start up a new topic if we get some posts, otherwise we can keep the discussion here for now.

Cool. Season 2 consists of 22 episodes. Do people want to go at their own pace and comment as you go along, or do like 4 a week?

Cool we will discuss at our leisure then. And yeah that costume is really nice. The Cheers Facebook page mentioned it, that is pretty original.

I'm watching Bar Wars V and VI, partially because of Halloween and also because those two together are fucking hysterical.

Power Play - Kind of neat to see the new season kick off exactly where the previous one ended. Otherwise, this episode wasn't a strong one, in my opinion. Too much time away from the bar (with multiple scenes in Diane's apartment). What's strange about that is that imdb.com indicates that every scene in season 1 was in the bar, and this was the first time to venture outside of that environment.
Little Sister Don't Cha - Carla's sister (played by Rhea Perlman) makes an appearance. I'm fairly certain that those who act in sitcoms love opportunities to play dual characters, especially when they're so different from the main character they play.
Line of the episode came from Coach: "I'll just tell them you're breaking in a new waitress." Also, Coach's home video and commentary was gold.
Random side note: I was thrown off by seeing Paul Willson with so much hair. Then checked and discovered he wasn't Paul, the regular, on the show until a couple of years later. In fact, his name was Tom in this episode, while another guy played a character named Paul.

Personal Business - Forgot to mention how much of a shock it is to consider these episodes are now 30 years old. Makes a guy feel old.
This was another episode that focused mainly on the Sam/Diane dynamic. Good, but not great, with no outstanding memorable moments.
Homicidal Ham - The recurring character Andy makes another appearance. Funny how Diane sees him and references him as the "murderer you paid to date me"
Coach again with one of the best lines. Diane talks about a guy being able to spot an actor a mile away. Coach replies, "that would come handy at a drive-in"
I'm fairly certain I've seen every episode of Cheers, and know I have of season 2 since I own the DVD set. However, I had no memory of the beer assembly line during the commercial break. Hilarious to see Norm circle thru the line multiple times.

I have to agree with Cardsfan's comments above.
Adding to the list:
Sumner's Return - While this episode centered around Sam/Diane with the return of her ex, it's once again Coach who delivers time and time again:
Sumner: "Over dinner, a mutual friend informed me that Diane works here. Is that correct?"
Coach: "I don't know. I wasn't at the dinner."
Affairs of the Heart - A little strange to end up having Carla and another guy go to Diane's apartment, but I guess since they had previously used that set, it was easier to do this way.

I burned through four episodes (ending with "Homicidal Ham") on Friday and really enjoyed them. So many great lines, and great cast chemistry. Obviously the show went through evolution and changes, but it was really clicking even this early in its run.

Re: Cheers Viewing Club: Season 2. Exploratory topic.
In 2013 I watched roughly a season a month, finished the series in early December.
Great series! One thing I picked up while looking at Ken Levine's blog was that Diane's friend Rebecca from the first season episode "Any Friend of Diane's", played by Julia Duffy, was the runner-up to playing the character of Diane.
If she had played Diane it would have been a different show and I'm sure it wouldn't have lasted as long. The reason I think it aged so well, in my opinion, was that Shelly Long left and Kirstie Alley came on - it was a different chemistry / different show with Alley. No longer was the show about Sam and Diane, it was about everybody in the bar.
I watched a couple of episodes of Frasier -- just didn't get into it.

Started watching Season 2 of Cheers the other day and have plowed through about the first half. Such a great show, can't say it enough. Coach's one-liners are fantastic. Just watched the one with Cliff running his mouth so much and some meathead wants to kick his ass. Great acting by him that episode.
