Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I didn't have very high hopes for this, but after three episodes, I am really enjoying it. Like the US version, the teams all have their own stories (Team Gay Rodeo Cowboys! Team Body Break (Joanne & Hal)! Team With A Guy With Artificial Limbs! Team Doctors (With Bonus Annoying Blonde Anna Faris Lookalike))! It's not a race around the world, but a race around Canada, which is a big selling point to me. The prize is $250k (yes, $C), and it is hosted by Jon Montgomery, the guy best known in Canada for chugging a pitcher of beer after winning a gold medal in Vancouver for skeleton.

My favorite part of the most recent episode was when Team Hippie was upset that another team questioned their integrity AFTER TEAM HIPPIE ADMITTED LYING TO THEM. But in true Canadian fashion, Team Hippie apologized for their lie and the other team said they understood that it was a game. How Canadian is that, eh?

Here's some details on the show:

Teams

Host Jon Montgomery

Episodes

I am assuming you can only stream in Canada, but not sure.

So is anyone else watching it besides me?

I've watched 3 Amazing Race Asia's, Amazing Race Australia and Amazing Race China. Asia's the best outside of the US. The host is really good. Funny though seeing some of the same locations and challenges as the US one.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I've been enjoying it.

It's fun seeing the Body Breaks couple.

I hate the Parkinson team. All that "You're my hero, dad" overkill makes me sick. And I know it's his gimmick to get on the show, but it's driving me crazy, his constant carping about, "I want to show that I'm not defined by my Parkinsons, even as every single thing I say mentions the fact I have Parkinsons."

I laughed my ass off at the Gay Cowboy Team's overrreaction to the other team's elimination.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I watched the first episode but couldn't get into it, I found it dull like the US family version or whatever that was. I love the regular US version. I've also enjoyed Australia, the one Asia season I've seen and the one Israel season I saw.

I hope you guys keep watching, if it gets better I'd like to know.

I should mention this airs on Mondays. Currently watching it on the east coast at 8pm EST but the rest of Canada generally has it air at 9pm EST.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I missed this thread for it.

I have been watching it and enjoying it. I kinda grew tired of The Amazing Race but I got back into it for this one. I like the couples they got for it and its neat to see all of my country that I don't get to see in person.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I've been thoroughly enjoying this one. Host is good, too. Certainly as good us the US version.

What was the language on this card in this episode?

It's Inuktitut, used by the Inuit people.

Season two started tonight. One pair is two of the girls from our women's Olympic hockey team. Good first episode.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

Darn, forgot this started up again - could have watched it via CTV - we still get that (and CBC) here in the Buffalo, NY area.

As for watching the episodes here in the states - if you don't get the CTV because you live close to Canada - someone will probably upload them to YouTube as last summer, I was able to watch the first couple of episodes of the first season there. (Yeah missed the start of that season too! looks like I started a new tradition! LOL!)

Casting Update - Vanessa Morgan who took part in the first season (she teamed up with her older sister) is an actress (she was on the Disney Channel show - "My Babysitters a Vampire") and is now on the new MTV show "Finding Carter" which premiered last night here in the states and will be shown on CTV-Fridays at 9:00 pm ET. (So its a return to CTV for Vanessa)

Edit - Just found out last nights episode will be repeated on Saturday at 8:00 pm ET so if I can't watch it via YouTube in the next couple of days, I'll be able to catch it then.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

Just checked YouTube and the episode is up - type Amazing Race Canada Season 2 Episode 1 Full. Don't click on the first one that comes up, that video although in full, has the episode in a small picture on a Amazing Race Canada background. Tough to watch. Scroll down a bit and theres one thats in full (the "photo" is night scope-like) and another where its broken up into two parts. Watch those instead.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

Anyone watching? Really enjoying this season, especially as the third and fourth episode was outside of Canada. Pierre & Michel are the bad guys, but I really don't like the mother/son team. They are kinda too close in a creepy way. Plus Jinder and Sukhi are clueless (literally at times, as they continued to overrun the clue box that was next to them). Every challenge, they are asking the other teams for help. Can't see them lasting much longer. The hockey girls are doing great, winning first place in every episode.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I'm watching too and really enjoying the season so far. There really isn't any team that I actively dislike at this point. Another very well cast season.

It's also nice to see some actual difficulty to the challenges.

Also Audrey's eyes are hypnotizing.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

I've really enjoyed the season so far. Agree that it's really well cast.

It's been interesting how some teams that started off strong have fallen to the back (Alain/Audrey, Rex/Bob) and others are moving towards the top. Meanwhile the hockey players have just been fantastic.

And LOL @ Mickey/Pete. Both the 'I'm _____' shirts and getting that casino challenge on the first try.

I've watched the Amazing Race Asia's, too, as well as Amazing Race Australia, and they seem to regularly have challenges that rival anything the US Amazing Race has. I don't know why they don't make the US one harder after seeing all these...

Man, the Olympians are rock stars at this thing...

Hockey girls keep on kicking butt!

The finish at Juno Beach was quite emotional.

Except on the hockey challenge. What did it take, 57 shots? Definitelywasn't expecting that.

Suhki and Jinder don't see to be as desperate to copy other teams as they were in the past. Not sure if it is an editing thing, but still good to see regardless.

Re: Amazing Race Canada - Season One

Good episode tonight.

Spoiler:
Shocked that the twins are gone. Even though they were definitely the villains of the season, I was starting to like them, just for their gleeful lying to other teams, especially tonight. Going to be more boring for the rest of the season, since they, along with the hockey players, were easily the top two teams.
