As long as you don't consider the fact that there's little chance you'd be able to aim appropriately standing on top of a bed, that the curtain rod must have been made of adamantium and been as sharp as a Samurai sword, and that the mattress (and box spring?) were apparently made of tissue paper. That was Friday The 13th territory for me.

Still, I like the show and this episode didn't do anything to change that. The idea of Dexter, Deb, and Vogel being a decidedly different kind of family is a nice twist. I don't know that I totally buy the Deb of the past getting to where she's at, but it's at least interesting to watch.

It's hard to see at this point where Hannah will rejoin the show, but I'm all for it.

Do people really buy Deb going from suicidal/kill brother depths of desperation to everything is cool lets go kill someone dismember them and throw him into the sea? Pretty silly and a huge dis-service to Deb. The original show runners were not going this way with her. They were going down the road of her investigating him over time figuring it out and arresting/killing him which would have been good. Glad there is only 8 episodes left.

Nope. It's obvious they need to speed things along to get to where they want to go by the end of the season/series - so the writers are taking shortcuts. It's pretty much standard for this show for the past 4 or 5 seasons - plausibility gets tossed out the window.

Before the season started I was anxious to see how the series ends, but now I'm very hesitant and am prepared for something lame which will have me facepalming.

I don't have a problem with Deb's transformation but it's the sequence of events and how it unfolded that is the biggest problem. The scene with Dexter/Vogel in Yates' basement in the last episode should have been deleted. This episode would have been better if he was still clueless as to Vogel's manipulation of him. The writers have good ideas but they always seem to rush them. They have too many storylines that go nowhere and it makes the main storyline suffer. Do we really need a Masuka storyline at this point? These last 2 episodes barely clocked in at 45 minutes. I can't help but feel that they could have brought Deb/Dexter back in a much more realistic way with just a few more scenes.

Scott Buck, Dexter's showrunner for the past 2 seasons, has signed a development deal with Showtime.

Apparently he will be developing a Dexter spinoff.

My vote goes for a spinoff called "Ahn-Hell and Quinn"

It seemed a bit contradictory to me. In the shipping container, he was willing to getting shot by Deb. Now he is mad that Deb tried to kill him?

It should be about Masuka and his daughter. It'll be a sitcom where Masuka constantly tries to pick up women only to have his daughter unintentionally cock block him every time. Tim Riggins shows up from time to time to bang the daughter and completely disrespect Masuka.

Good point. I suppose the difference is that in the shipping container Dex was caught red handed and knew he was in the middle of doing something wrong. Plus in the back of his head he would know that Deb would be there to take care of Harrison. This time Dex was trying to make things right and Deb taking her own life in the process would mean that Harrison would really be an orphan.

That's a pretty lame idea - without Dexter but having the rest of the Miami Metro on a show will just seem like a big "hole" on each show.

I'm thinking "Deb". Or "Debra". Depends how you want to go.

I think she made up her mind when she was compelled to save Dex from the car.

Also, to be fair, they threw Yates in the ocean whole. No chop chop for him.

A prequel with Doakes?
And of course he always captures the bad guy at the end of the episode, and says his famous line "Surprise motherfucker!"

I am wondering how Dexter and Deb weren't marveling at how well Vogel was controlling Yates with words.
She's a master at it. I would be thinking - hmm - I'm not going to listen to anything she said.

I too will be glad the show is done, there is so much ridiculousness going on everywhere.

Yes, and no longer will that Showtime rep hold a gun to your head every Sunday night and force you to watch it!

I think that's exactly what they were thinking during their shared silence in the car ride.

Dexter already knew Vogel was manipulating them in the previous episode.

Sure. I mean, if you have no original thoughts of your own why not copy the best, right?

A dexter spinoff could work as a detective show.

Maybe if it is a comedy. One thing watching Dexter has taught me is that Miami Metro Homicide is incredibly inept when it comes to solving crimes.

A show starring Doakes should be titled Surprise Motherfucker!

It's always a toss up between giving up on a show, and sticking with it. When you get to the last season it can be a chore..

I dropped Sons of Anarchy and True Blood this year, and am only watching Dexter because it is the final season. If it wasn't I would have stopped.
