Sad. I liked his work.

I've always liked him as an actor. His brief bit as J-Lo's dad in Out of Sight was always a favorite.

I still think his line he used in L&O several times "trust me, I'm authorized" is one of the best lines of any cop show ever. :lol:

For those who watched Hannibal on NBC this year, its also worth noting that Farina played Jack Crawford in the 1986 movie Manhunter. Laurence Fishburne played Crawford on the TV series.

Wow, sad. I met him on a USO tour back in 2003. Really nice guy. He signed my Snatch dvd. His wife took a picture of us then 4 or so months later I got a letter from him with a copy of the picture. Really nice guy and a good screen presence. Goodbye Dennis. RIP.

The man was such a stand-out actor that he even made his roles in awful films something worth watching.

The only two movies I know him from are his cameo in Saving Private Ryan, and he was very funny in Get Shorty. RIP

this is weird.

I saw him on a commercial last night and thought, "that's the guy who died from Law & Order...wait...no he is still alive, it was the guy from dirty dancing who died."

Wow, sad to hear. I've just recently been re-watching the entire run of Crime Story on DVD (with only a few episodes left to go now) and was marveling at what a great job he did in that show, especially considering he was essentially a non-professional actor when he got cast in it. And he really went on to a pretty good career as a character actor afterwards. I didn't realize he was almost 70, though.

I always think of him more for his great work on Crime Story, than L&O. He was very good in Luck as well.
