"Naked & Afraid" Discovery Channel 6/23

This for the participant who reveals that she ingeniously caught fish using her "private parts".

Watching two hours of this about the same people was tough. I guess they cast the spoiled woman due to her youthful appeal but it was sheer torture to watch her whine and mope while the others tried to do their best. Shocking news at the end, they didn't really go into too much detail about Manu's serious health problems after getting off the show.

I didn't know they were doing another season. That raft trip must've taken most of the day. I wonder if they were seriously thinking of leaving the Princess behind. I guess she would've got fished out.

I wonder if they thought of releasing an un-blurred version on video.

Good lord that girl was annoying. I mean really, you have no food/water and "it can wait for later"??? I'm so glad her partner gorged himself on clams/oysters and didn't bring any back for her!

I turned this off just before the end so I didn't see it. What happened?

EDIT: Never mind. Googled it.

I thought that was a riveting episode... the spoiled brats rating plummeted after all of that, which was funny, didnt take long for Manu to see what she really was too...

Well at least at the end Cassie in the end realized she was a total failure at surviving in the wild. I really have never seen such a lazy person on the show before, she is just darn lucky Manu told the boys that she would not leave her behind.

They aired a special with all four of them after they replayed it last night and she is still in pretty bad shape. She was out of the hospital but has to use a walker to get around.

I've seen about half of the episodes, but I am enjoying them. Going back and watching some older ones now. Haven't seen some of the episodes referred to above, but looking forward to them.

Anyone still watching?

Watching. Still enjoying it. The guy eating the mushrooms from this past weekend was a fucking idiot.

I enjoyed seeing the 2 people from past episodes get put together in that new situation.

Yup. He's very lucky.

What 2 people and what new situation? Did a couple of people do it more than once?

Man vs. Amazon, episode 9. It was a longer than normal episode. The first pair dropped out after a week. They brought in a new pair, which was EJ (Africa) and Laura (Panama). Aired in mid-March last month.

Cool, I have seen the first 7 episodes and the last 2 or 3, so I haven't seen that one yet. Sounds interesting, thanks for the heads up.

I feel sorry for the cameraman. Not only does he have to go through the heat and bugs but he gets to aim a camera at a guy's hairy ass/nutsack as he's bending over itching his feet or climbing up a tree.

Re: "Naked & Afraid" Discovery Channel 6/23

The formula grows increasingly tiresome after seeing the same things, week after week. The producers have seemingly picked the most inhospitable places possible for the two people on their own, with no tools to survive. Even the natives don't go into the areas this show has people trying to last 21 days.

The insects would be tough with clothing in a tropical forest, but trying it without protection of any kind is just asking for a brutal experience. If people are starving, most will sit in their constructed canopy all day. That does not make for compelling television.

Note to producers: The stupid PSRs you assign at both the beginnings and endings of all episodes are largely worthless. I have no idea why they've kept it around this long.

Re: "Naked & Afraid" Discovery Channel 6/23

Last night's episode had two of the more unlikable participants in my opinion. Neither one made it, although the woman did get to 20 days before being evacuated. The voiceover said the guy was having issues a month after thr challenge was over...

Re: "Naked & Afraid" Discovery Channel 6/23

So they have a listing for "Naked and Afraid: Uncensored", which airs a week after the regular broadcast of a particular episode. I watched the first and within the first five minutes both the nudity and the language was censored, so I didn't see much point in watching this version, as opposed to the standard version. Has anybody watched the "uncensored" versions, and is there anything uncensored about it?

Doesn't uncensored mean "pop up video"? Where they have word bubbles telling you what happened, filming problems, nature's facts? not that they are actually uncensored.

Right from Merriam Webster's itself. That's exactly what it means.

They are not uncensored in terms of nudity and language. A shameless attempt to trick a few viewers into watching re-runs with some added pop-up facts.

They need to allow participants the use of sandals or something in some of the more hostile terrains.

Conan should include this show as one of the reasons China is kicking our ass.

I wonder if you can take sandals or shoes as your one item. I'm guessing no. To me, those items should be a knife/machete and a firestarter kit. Everything else, including goggles, doesn't compare.

Modern humans haven't built up the necessary calluses to walk barefoot. Forcing people to walk through jungle terrain like that simply limits the area the players are willing to explore.

The producers really need to refine this show's formula if it wants to stick around. The naked gimmick will only carry this series so far.
