Congrats, the 1st new NBC drama to break the Thursday at 10pm curse.
It says season 2 will premiere no earlier than midseason.
One of the tweets I read said that season 2 will be about the end of Will and Hannibal's bromance.

The facial blindness struck me as kind of funny, because right before this episode I was watching a new Arrested Development episode where a character deals with the same affliction.
Much different results, though.

Great news.
I finally got caught up with this series and tonight's was the first episode I watched live. This is such an amazingly well done show all the way around. Hugh Dancy's slowly going crazy Will is one of the better TV performances I've ever seen. It's frankly a little sad to watch at times. While I should have seen the clock drawing reveal coming I still said "God damn!" out loud. I'm kind of wondering what the encephalitis diagnosis will do for the plot though. While I don't know a ton about the disease, it seems likely that he'd die without treatment before too long.

Great job on conveying Will's disorientation without making the episode completely confusing.
I like that they're doing short seasons. This show is very much in the mold of cable dramas.

If not the best show on television right now, Hannibal has to be top three. Definitely excited for a second season.

Nice to see Ellen Muth in tonight's episode! Did you notice that her character was named Georgia and she was alive but "dead"?

I hadn't heard that, but even if it's the case, it doesn't have to be "early". If I remember Red Dragon correctly, Hannibal was already in prison when the book opens. Garrett Jacob Hobbs and the Chesapeake Ripper cases were already closed, and Graham had retired after being almost killed by Lecter and having Freddie Lounds write about him. Crawford then convinces him to come out of retirement to help track down the Tooth Fairy. Depending on how long they want this show to go, they could probably drag out the Ripper hunt for 2 seasons and then do Tooth Fairy for season 4. I can't imagine they're in any rush to put Hannibal in jail, although dragging it out unnecessarily seems like a bad idea.

Solid episode as usual.
Some really gruesome crime scenes in this episode. I really liked how this episode was initially leading you to think these murders were isolated crimes until the big reveal that Hannibal was actually behind it.
At least this episode covered the reason for Will's issues with his brain inflammation. I didn't expect Hannibal to mutilate the doctor at the end.
That last scene with the girl unable to see Hannibal's face because of her face blindness issue was pretty creepy.

Did Hannibal also kill the first victim, the chick? I thought he just killed his doctor colleague to mess with Will's head and to keep the diagnosis secret.

yes, that was my take too. Just like he only killed one of the girls that were "speared" with the antlers. Love the show and thrilled with the renewal. The one "miss" for me is I don't understand why the neurologist would have gone along with Hannibal to withhold the diagnosis from Will.

I was a little confused about the affliction this girl was suffering. I understand face blindness, but her skin coming off wasn't clear to me. I know they said she was suffering from some illness, but I guess I missed the totality of her issues.
I am over the moon that this show is being renewed for a second season. I just hope it can build up more of an audience as it goes forward so we can get a solid 4 or 5 seasons.
I agree that this show has entered into the conversation as one of the best shows on TV now. I don't watch much on network TV these days, but I would imagine it is the best network drama right now by a country mile.

I believe Hannibal convinced the other doctor that they should research and study Will's mind and psyche while the disease runs rampant untreated. All in the name of science of course.

So did Hannibal originally want Will to think he killed the neurologist doctor? I don't think he factored in the girl showing up and messing with his plan. Framing her was plan B. Looks like Hannibal really does want a friend or may be just a partner in crime.

Royal Pains had an episode about this affliction, as well.

I just watched the episode and loved it. I am so happy this show was renewed. Between this and Bates Motel I can slowly get over losing Southland.
This is also the one show that actually scares me and creeps me out! I mean really really creeps me out. I had to take the garbage out and decided to wait until the morning..it's dark out there!!!

Didn't he pretty much admit this in the last episode during his conversation with his personal shrink? I think it's creepy how Hannibal is basically witholding medical info from Will and Jack in order to spend more time with him.

Just finished watching this episode and loved the ending. I'm ecstatic the show got a renewal. NBC must know it has a lot of potential. Made my week -- just sucks it will be close to a year until then.
