Boardwalk Empire - Worth a watch ?
 

Now it's the offseason , it's time to find new shows to watch

I have never seen an episode of Boardwalk empire, a mate mentioned it last nite, i never even knew what it was about, the title obviously never even enticed me enough to even find out what it's about

so is it like the Sopranos set in the 20s ?

Aside from the senseless violence in support of organized crime (e.g. bootlegging, election rigging, etc.), nothing like the Sopranos, but still worth checking out. If you have HBO, then go to HBO-GO to find all the episodes.

I've only watched the first season but I like it pretty well. It's slower paced though and may not be for everyone. Buscemi is great in it though.

It's really good. I watched all 3 seasons for the first time back in Jan/Feb and loved it. I will admit it took 4-5 episodes to get into the swing of things but after that I was watching episodes back to back to back. Steve Buscemi is perfect as Nucky Thompson, the lead character.

Yes, and please stick with it if you're only moderately impressed with it at first...this is one of the only current shows I can think of that has gotten better with each season. I wasn't crazy about Season 1, thought Season 2 was a huge improvement, and thought Season 3 was outstanding.

Give it a few episodes and make your own decision.

I am a huge history buff of organized crime, as well as Atlantic City, so this show was a dream come true. It's a quality show.

Yes, but understand the show you truly want it to be doesn't happen til Season 3.

Season 1 is good, Season 2 is great, and then starting with Season 3 it becomes top tier incredible.

The writers thankfully realized their oops and fixed it accordingly.

Yep, it's one of my favorites. It is slow paced, but to me pace has nothing to do with how good or interesting a show is. There are fast paced shows that are boring, and slow paced shows that are boring. This one is somewhat slow paced but engrossing.

Definitely. It's the best thing HBO airs IMO.

Just keep in mind that while a lot of what they portray did happen it didn't happen in the time frame as the show presents it. They take quite a few licenses on changing things up to make the show more interesting. That's not to say the show is entertaining. It is and I've watched since the beginning and will continue.

Yes it's a very good show. Starts off a little slow but continues to improve from there.

without a doubt one of the best shows on right now. It's a good one to do a binge session on, because there are a lot of characters that can get lost/confused when it's a week to week (and season to season) delay.
