Synopsis: The BAU team hunts a serial killer who digs up his victims, creating a totem pole of their bodies as a macabre trophy. When Nick Boyle's (Mark Rendall) body is found, Jack (Laurence Fishburne) & Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) question Abigail (Kacey Rohl) about his death. The resurrection of Nick's body enlightens Will (Hugh Dancy) to some of Abigail's secrets and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) convinces Will to keep some of his own. Attempting to assert independence, Abigail agrees to write a book with Freddy Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) and in the process, reveals her biggest secret to Hannibal. Lance Henriksen co-stars Episode 9 of 13 |

More "Shining" references with the heartbeat in this episode. Especially similar to the room 237 bathroom scene with the heartbeat and the decomposing flesh on the dead guy that stands up from the gurney.
And wow! Abigail was a naughty girl. :jawdrop: |

How did one guy get that totem put up on his own?

Bubble drama Hannibal (2.74 mil/1.0) rose 11 percent in audience yet ticked down a tenth from last week. |

But, yeah, I wondered the same thing. |
Re: Hannibal -- "Trou Normand" -- 5/23/13
What body of water was that supposed to be at the beginning? Google Maps shows a couple of rivers in Grafton, WV... but nothing like the ocean or one of the Great Lakes!

So, now Hannibal has Will covering for him. Pulling him into his web a little further. That last scene with Abigail on the train was creepy.

We were wondering the same things. Maybe "beach" is a term landlocked states use for lakefronts? No idea how the guy got the totem pole up. I'd like to have seen more than just a cameo by Henriksen. |
Re: Hannibal -- "Trou Normand" -- 5/23/13
I don't remember, could land be seen on the other side of the water?
I can see there being a beach along a river or lake, but WV doesn't have any bodies of water large enough to not be able to see land on the other side and that totem pole would have taken a really long time to put together and raise, especially since 7 graves had to be dug up in the process no way one old dude did that in a single night |
Re: Hannibal -- "Trou Normand" -- 5/23/13
I love how far down the rabbit hole they're going. I was genuinely taken off guard when his classroom speech turned out to be for an empty room.

Re: Hannibal -- "Trou Normand" -- 5/23/13
For the people confused about that huge body of water in West Virginia.
I'm not 100% sure, but the show is filmed in Toronto. That beach area is probably near Lake Ontario. That totem pole would have taken hours to build. I'm surprised the killer was able to do that without drawing any attention. Unless he built it around 2, 3 4am? However, that seems extremely difficult for 1 man to accomplish. |

IS this series worth watching? I only watched the first three episodes then they had that one they wouldn't show in the states so i was going to try and find the whole episode online before continuing however kind of forgotten about it now i'm like 7 episodes behind. Should i catch up?

Yeah the totem pole thing was stretching it. Maybe if they showed tractor tracks in the sand and some pulleys but Lance looks like he'd be winded climbing a flight of stairs.

That's what's great, it could have been either.

Another great episode again. I loved the way how Hannibal manipulated Will into covering for Abigail. There are so many great subplots on this show that I'm not sure they can resolve them all at the end of the year. |

Funny, I broke out the ipad to check and see what body of water that was in WV as well. Oh well, I can forgive this excellent show for a little misstep from time to time.

Re: Hannibal -- "Trou Normand" -- 5/23/13
Chalk me up as another one that was trying to figure out the body of water. I had Google Maps up while I was still watching the episode.

Re: Hannibal -- "Trou Normand" -- 5/23/13
The water didn't bother me, but the totem (while a remarkable visual) was too intricate and large for a 70 year old man to do by himself. That took me out of the ep a little. It would have been much easier to go along with it if the totem was a 3rd of the size, or if they saved this "design" for a younger killer (if not a team of killers).
That said, this show just keeps getting better. I really hope we get another season. I love how put together Mads is. He's exceptional at playing the upper crust. Which is going to make it all the more better to see him when he begins to crack (if we ever get that far). |
