Where'd they leave Lily?

Good ep. Glad they let Ty Burrell show off his acting chops beyond being goofy.

I really enjoyed this episode. All the stories were entertaining. And I must admit I got teary eyed towards the end when Phil was talking about his mom and later Alex with the fireworks.

Maybe first episode I've really liked this season. Thought it was great and sweet.

Glad I'm not the only one really disappointed with this season. New Girl was my go to comedy this year.

Pretty good. I didn't think it was anything special though. I did enjoy Phil's moment with the old lady.

I enjoyed it except for Mitch in the courtroom. I know what they were going for, but it fell flat for me.

Anyone else kept thinking of the cable promo while watching certain scenes of this episode?

Ha, good point. I forgot about the new baby. Doesn't Gloria's sister live in the area now? She is probably watching the baby.

Maybe they left Lily home alone to take care of the cat. Do they still have a cat?

Maybe Fulgencio and Lily are with Pepper?

I think Lily ate the cat.

Hopefully for dead. At least they're smart enough not to fly with a young child, particularly one like her. ;)

Great LBJ comment.

My favorite part of the episode was that no Lily, no baby were in it. Really enjoyed this episode despite it being a downer of a subject

I didn't think that this episode was very funny and it really didn't set up next season either.

I haven't watched it yet, but has there ever been a Modern Family that "set it up for next season" outside of the pregnancy one? I don't seem to recall other cliffhangers at season's end.

Wasn't adopting Lily one of the setups? Eh, either way, I was hoping it would.

I seem to recall them adopting Lily at the beginning of the pilot.

Were the old ladies at the retirement home all former sitcom characters or something? They all looked familiar.

I recognized the fattest one (the one who was sneaking booze) from an old Cheerios commercial which they still run.

There were a few laughs in this episode but to me, the whole thing felt contrived and forced.

Man, this season has been a huge disappointment. They keep it up, might be getting axed after Season 5 or 6.

I liked the payoff, but the entire setup with Debbie Reynolds was weird. Hearing about some older guys first wasn't too entertaining until the "She sent more guys off to war than LBJ." That I thought was good.

One was Kathleen Turner's neighbor in Serial Mom, and I *think* the woman who played Mrs. Grubman in Nip/Tuck was the youngest looking one.

I didn't think it was too bad, but again, I was more interested in the various Dunphy plots than anything else, although Jay's wasn't horrible and Cam's started out alright.

Just add me to the camp that wasn't sad Lily didn't make the flight to Florida.
